-Classic's campaign is pretty clearly trolling. Like, duh.
Really? I mean, his new persona is obviously an act (a particularly unconvincing one, I might add), but his platform is pretty consistent with what he says on the rest of the forum. Either he's a full-fledged troll, or he holds some disturbing beliefs that the public ought to know about.
-It's not our job to micromanage every candidate, so taking the most extreme things our most extreme members say and branding it as the consensus of the party is absurd. Although I guess it makes sense from a party where one of their Distinguished Elder StatesmenTM recently tried to make a rule giving the Chair and Vice-Chair the ability to stop someone from running for President to encourage top-down rule.
"Extreme" is certainly the word for it.
Fortunately, as you say, many Federalists are more open-minded when it comes to social issues than Classic's platform would suggest, which is fortunate for the country and the political right. Unfortunately, Southern voters won't see that diversity represented at the ballot box this weekend; the majority of conservative candidates for the CoD (Classic, Ben Kenobi, JCL) endorse the ideas put forward in this platform.
Also, Windjammer's bylaws amendment was a terrible idea, which is why he was literally the only person to support it.
-I can confirm that higher-ups in Labor have made deals with Ben as Yankee is describing. The idea that Labor is always 100% working towards "moving the country in a progressive direction" and don't routinely spend time propping up the, for lack of a better term, "far-right" for the purpose of making the rest of the party look insane is quite laughable.
I can't vouch for the actions of every Laborite, and I certainly won't bother to defend the actions of TNF & friends (who's heyday was before my time, in any case), but I
can affirm that the present leadership of the Labor Party (myself, Blair, LLR, Mike, and Peebs) have never been party to any sort of "unholy alliance" with the far right. The only time we ever discussed Ben Kenobi that I recall was in June, when Blair and I agreed the best response was to ignore him and let the fire burn itself out.
-I am not a single-issue voter. And if I was, it would be on the issues that actually matter in Atlasia. Everyone currently in Congress supports legalized same-sex marriage, for example. I have strong disagreements with some Federalists on social issues, and we have discussed those disagreements. But those issues aren't ones that can be acted upon, since Laborites and moderate or libertarian Federalists will outvote them. However, many Laborites support polices that hurt people, too. Take a look at the things that have passed Fremont's legislature: raising the minimum wage to a point that would hurt rural businesses (and before you strawman me on that I signed a federal increase), anti-science GMO scaremongering, and literally abolishing private healthcare (like wtf).
Your analysis of LGBTQ+ issues as they stand at the federal level is by-and-large correct (though, as I said, such is not the case in the current regional election). I'll just add that all of the policies you mentioned were opposed (and ultimately defeated) by other Laborites. Pikachu led the charge to keep the minimum wage at a reasonable level; I vetoed the healthcare bill you mention and pushed for legislation to correct the worst defects in the other. So, while it's true that some Laborites get carried away from time to time, we're fairly good at bringing each other back to Earth when that happens.
-YOUR PARTY WAS LITERALLY LED BY A COMMUNIST!!!!!! If you think I'm being sensationalist, I am being completely serious. TNF was literally a communist, and was one of the more prominent members of the Labor Party for his Senate tenure.
Sure... in 2015. Since then, the current generation of Laborites has united to systematically purge his legacy from the party (aided by an influx of moderates from TPP, of whom I was one). TNF was definitely horrible, but his impact on the contemporary Labor Party is not remotely comparable to that of posters who are still contributing to conservative policymaking and the game at-large. If this were two years ago, I would agree with you (there's a reason I wasn't in Labor until November 2015).
To be clear, I'm not attacking you or anyone else here (except those spouting certified-insane far-right talking points), just reminding everyone that not every Laborite has horns and a forked tail.
