Still, Truman had quite of ground he could afford to lose unlike Biden . Ironically I think the best comparison with Biden is Trump 2020 where despite bad approvals and voters unhappy with the direction of the country, the election was a tossup that could have gone either way.
Similarly Trump did not have much ground he could afford to lose and he didnt end up losing much group but that was still enough to cost him reelection.
