I'm conflicted. When 9/11 occurred, I thought we would have a war. Like a real war. Like eating dead horses in the snow Stalingrad-type of war. Sadly, with so many scattered enemies remaining today, I feel like we half-assed it. I give props to Barack Obama for his takedown of Osama though, that was excellent.

That's cause the real war ended within 2 months in Afghanistan , and one month in Iraq.  Since then we have been trying to stabilize the nations not fight a war with them.

It certainly had good intentions - a world replete with representative governments that respect the dignity of the individual is a noble goal. However, some nations simply have diametrically opposite values systems and can't be transformed into democratic paradises - especially not through military force. The best way to promote a freer, more democratic world is through increased trade and alliances.

I agree , if you had someone like McCain in charge isntead of Bush maybe Neo-Conservative policies could have worked as McCain would have handled Afghanistan and Iraq far far more competently. McCain 100% would not have gone into Iraq with no plan on how to stabilize the nation after the inital invasion and would not have dismanatled the Iraqi Army like Bush/Cheney did.

Bush/Cheney handled Iraq so badly that describing it as gross incompetence does injustice to the phrase gross incompetence.
