What's interesting is how well Clinton vibed in Louisiana, winning it big in '96, but then Gore wasn't even competitive there in 2000.  

Gore still did way better in the state than any Democrat after him (as was the case in several southern states). Hard to believe Louisiana and West Virginia were more Democratic than the nation in ‘96.
