If I didn't have an attachment to the Midwest and specifically Illinois, I might go with Orange County. I am such a beach person, and I hate the winter; it was a cruel irony that I was born in Illinois and grew up to be a proud Illinoisan (it seems there are too few of those). However, I have to go with DuPage.
We're out there
True, I just feel that our state is way too sectionally divided, and I've always considered that stupid. From Galena to Chicago to Peoria to Champaign to Springfield to the Metro East to the beautiful Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois, I consider Illinois to be a great all around state that is a perfect microcosm of the United States as a whole. It makes me sick when Downstate people rip on Chicago or Chicago people rip on suburbanites or other things like that.
