The WWIII can happen if the countries don't use the nuke, but I doubt that everyone could avoid the temptation if everything got serious - a nuke bomb can finish a war within an hour.
At the same time, using such bomb is risky: while the rocket is flying, the other side can send its rocket. And everybody would die.
So, in general, WWIII won't happen. Because no one is crazy enough to put the whole humanity at risk. Unless someone that crazy appears and gets an access to the nuke.
