I don't think foreign citizens necessarily get unlimited access to other country's national healthcare systems...right?

I know people do go to some other countries to get cheaper surgeries, such as sex changes or cosmetic surgeries in Asia.  I remember hearing of cosmetic surgery tours where you get to fly to Korea, be taken around sightseeing and whatnot, get your surgery, and return, all for about the same price as the surgery would cost here, although I never looked it up and could be wrong.

So, Americans go to other places for some care and other people come to America for other care?

I am confused.

...anyway, you can't go visit another country and get a major, expensive surgery any more than you can go to another country and, say, run for parliament, right?  I'm not even sure what the procedure is for accidents in other countries.  I went to the doctor for the flu here in Indonesia and it cost $4, including the random assortment of pills they gave me, haha.  The entire hospital did sort of look like a United States WW2 Pacific army field hospital though, shrug.

this thread has an extremely poor premise and all of the evidence relies on anecdotes, much like Michael Moore showing people who have to choose which fingers they want to keep in the USA and then showing people without that problem in Cuba...

and yes, people do go to Canada and Mexico for basic drugs all the time, and cosmetic and other surgeries in Asia that are relatively cheap over there.  That doesn't validate or invalidate the logic for a public health care option.  Everyone knows the US has some of the best health care in the world for advanced procedures, if one has the money, so it's of no surprise whatsoever that some international people come here for the very best.

and I don't feel like I'm arguing for or against public health care in this thread at all, only weird logic
