Joe Biden was of military age during the Vietnam conflict and just like Trump, got a dubious medical exemption. It is one thing to oppose Vietnam for moral reasons as a "conchie" (Bernard Sanders) but is quite another thing if you support the war but think someone ELSE should fight it for you (George W., Biden, Trump, Michael Bloomberg)

Yes the Bradley effect, after Tom Bradley the Black mayor of Los Angeles, who twice failed to be elected Governor despite polls saying he would win. But the consensus seems to be that is not what is happening now. What is happening now is that Republicans simply refuse to engage with polls - they hang up when a poll calls them, whether it's a live call or a robocall. They do this for the same reason they no longer watch the network news or read newspapers. They have retreated into Trumpworld, a fantasy world where they can believe their own facts, and they won't let anyone in from the real world outside. That's also the only possible explanation for 70 million people voting for the most disastrous failure in the history of US government.

Trump voters don't care about the economy or anything else. They don't care that Trump broke all his promises to them. Their votes for Trump are a "cultural statement" against the liberal elites, against the affluent, educated people who lecture them about racism, sexism and homophobia, who support gun control, immigration, Muslims, abortion and same-sex marriage. They also identify the mainstream media and polling companies as part of the elite, which is why media exposures of Trump's corruption and incompetence don't affect them, and why the polls undercount them.

No real way forward for these regions. The best gift you could give these people is a bus ticket out of there.
