Liberal Twitter/Atlas is going to be in for a big letdown when the Squad's endorsement has only a modest effect on polling. Sanders's campaign has been over since he had a heart attack.

Because Pelosi's two purposes in life are:
1) to raise as much money as possible from corporate donors to give out to house dems - the only reason she has her job, because she sucks in every other way
2) to try to protect blue dog dems to a fault by being stupidly milquetoast, despite this attempt repeatedly backfiring on her

Right, because when Pelosi shepherded Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, and Waxman-Markey through the 111th Congress, her only goal was to raise money and protect Blue Dogs.

If Pelosi didn't get through those watered down bills, the Obama admin would have had her head on a spike.

A better question is: why did she wait forever to do an impeachment inquiry, how the hell did she just merely pass the border bill the repibs wanted when kids were being put in cages and repub voters were even outraged by it, and why has she killed hearings on MFA, GND?

The answer to all three of those is the composition of her caucus, and the members toward its right who wouldn't let her do any of those things.

She waited forever on impeachment because the Russia issue wasn't going to sell Americans on the idea. Good thing she did wait, as it was only a matter of time before Donny committed more corrupt and immoral acts that American's widely view as disqualifying....

She killed hearings on the MFA because it was a waste of time and the bill wouldn't even come close to passing the house. The Green New Deal was one of the most poorly drafted pieces of "legislation" that I have seen in years (mentioning cows farting, etc...) and was INCREDIBLY UNPOPULAR. Do you want to WIN, or do you want to grandstand for ideas that will not become reality at anytime and that will make our common goals of eliminating income inequality and a cleaner environment less popular?

1) I'd prefer to not die / not have my children die, and a dramatic shift in urgency / the political conversation is necessary to do so

2) NONE of her bills (moderate OR leftist ones) have any chance of getting passed through the Senate/white House.  That's not the point!  The point is to shift the conversation, put pressure on Trump/Republicans, and communicate important policy priorities in an effort to set the stage to win and then govern effectively.

3) Also, Donny was committing a ton of corrupt acts before the Ukraine scandal, which they should have focused on it they were smart (emoluments, etc) by investigating and then communicating to the public about (then if public opinion changed in response to effective communication, moving to impeach).  I agree the Russia stuff was overplayed.

Also, you didn't answer the fundamental question of why she had to be pushed by blue dogs, not the other way round as would make more sense.

If enough of her caucus had told Pelosi that nothing they'd seen was enough for them to support an impeachment vote, what would she have to gain by forcing a vote and probably losing? What tools did/does she have to push those members that she didn't use?
