The date chosen is concurrent with the regularly scheduled Fremont regional elections. There is not enough time to get this on the October ballot. This timing will still get it done before Thanksgiving and Christmas when activity traditionally drops.

Objection to the motion, still working on an amendment.

What will your amendment be covering? I already introduced and passed an amendment that resolved the issue of the name being an instance of nepotism.

I also note that the Senator previously noticed an intention to draft an amendment nearly two weeks ago. I have developed a reputation of giving people time on amendments if they indicate an intention to draft one, but at some point the body has to move along.

Us Iowans love it when Uncle Sam gets his hands on our fields to build a Pentagon on top of. Tongue

If you need land to build a new capital, ask states to donate land, like what Maryland and Virginia did on the Potomac. If this goes to referendum, the only people who should be allowed to vote should be Iowans, Missourians, and Illinoisans, as I don't know why someone from California or New York has a stake in it. I also assume plenty of civilians who live in Nyman, Central Maryland, and Northern Virginia would also oppose this law taking countless jobs away from the area, forcing those employed by the federal government and their families to move halfway across a continent because of "national unity" or something.

It's a cute idea, and it's something I've actually brought up in the past, but ultimately, the physical location of Nyman isn't a problem. So why fix it, and why do so in a way that infringes on the domain of three already existing states, one of which I hold very dear to my heart?

The issue with the current location is based on where the regional lines are drawn, the capital is entirely taken from the land of one region. The fact that it is from 2 different states is not really relevant in this simulation since states only exist here insofar as the GM team cares to simulate them. With this new location, all three regions will share in the burden of hosting the Capital.
