I'm pleased to gavel the chamber back into session to consider this piece of legislation, and I thank Mr. Reactionary for going through the Wiki to find the existing law on this matter.

This simple bill will amend Section 2 of the Fast Act to deregulate our roads and enable faster travel by raising the maximum speed limit on highways from 75 to 90 mph. I believe this to be a limit that preserves road safety while enabling faster travel. In this same spirit, speed limits for other non-residential streets, which are sometimes arbitrarily set as low as 40 miles per hour by over burdening state governments, are set to 55 miles per hour.

With lesser limits must come greater enforcement of those limits, and that is why the bill also amends Section 3 to lower the "grace amount" when passing from 10 mph to 5 mph.

I encourage the Chamber to pass this simple and sensible bill.

One thing that might be worth discussing is something that I don't know the name for Tongue but here in sunny SWFL, each traffic light has a light attached that flashes when an ambulance in action is driving through. These usually provide drivers advance warning and allow them to begin getting out of the way.

Something like that could be very useful and should be considered for implementation across the South.

They're called "Emergency Warning Lights".

Just going to point out you keep misnumbering your bills. This bill should be S.19.1.16, not S.18-4.16.
