Imagine a Kamala Harris vs. Carly Fiorina Senate race. I would rate that Lean D.

LOLOLOLOLOL

Barbara Boxer was unpopular in terms of her approval rating in 2010, and Fiorina still lost by 10 points in a republican Tsunami. She's not going to beat Kamala Harris with presidential turnout.

The only republican candidate who can possibly win a D vs. R race with presidential turnout (that I can think of) is David Valadao (R, CA-21), and even his chance of winning would be no higher than 20%. However, republicans may not want to court him, as doing so could very well mean watching his house seat go democratic in 2016.

Steyer will run. You heard it here first.
Steyer is just terrible. Argh.

The best democrat would be Harris or Newsom.

Why did they poll the head to head as Garcetti v. Harris? What kind of ish is that?

This was a PPP internal. The questions were set by the one who paid for the poll, which in this case was not PPP.

Look Closer, they included Steyer.

WTF.... wait for Pelosi and Hoyer to retire and he has a great shot at moving up in House leadership.
Pelosi will be in congress until she is either primaried or dies.

Sanchez can just run again in 2018 if she loses in 2016. Feinstein is almost certainly not going to run again, and even if she does there will still be the open governor's seat if that's the sort of thing Sanchez would be interested in.

I know you dems like to fantasize about the whole party standing aside for Harris out of fear of the R vs R possibility, but that's just not how things work when an opportunity to move up to the senate comes up for the first time in over 20 years in a gigantic state. This was always going to be a contested primary, Harris was never going to be able to scare away all of the 40+ possibilities listed by wikipedia.
