I'll give credit to JFK on one count: he learnt from his mistakes in office. After screwing up big time in Bay of Pigs he took the rap like a statesman and modified his behaviour by relying less on the Very Serious hacks of the Pentagon and the increasingly out of control CIA. Eisenhower, by and large, let the CIA run riot - and most frightening of all, allowed the nuclear arsenal to be wrested from civilian control and into the clutches of psychopaths like Curtis LeMay. I beleive that Eisenhower was definitely a more moral person than Kennedy (who really was a bit of a twerp) but I don't consider him as 'good' a President.

Ike was obviously terrible but he at least didn't try to start a nuclear war to prove he was tough on communism

The CMC would have played out whoever had been in charge.

Lol @ invading Cuba. Because Bay of Pigs clearly wouldn't have happened with Ike in charge...

Hmm, but if you actually read what I posted, I wasn't comparing JFK to Eisenhower, I was comparing him to liberal expectations.

Reading Comp 101

Well sorry, my bad. It's still a silly thing to say as he, y'know genuinely learnt from his experience and avoided trusting the nuts in the administration (unlike both his predecessor and his successor) too much.
