If what is being implied is that the police won't do their job because they have a problem with who was elected Mayor then that is dereliction of duty that should result in firing.

They're afraid that Johnson is going to have their hands tied from doing their job, something the likes of Daley, Emanuel, Giuliani and Bloomberg would never do in places like Chicago and NYC.

They don't want Sharpton and Jackson and Crump telling them what to do

I like how everybody on this thread agree with firing them blah blah blah, but nobody mentions the real issue, that democrats at the state and local level are too cowardly to actually anger them, let alone purge them and implement ideological affirmative action.

To be fair to Democrats, when they actually do try and stand up to the police, the police respond by threatening their families. Look at what they did to DeBlasio's daughter.

Exactly....and what they did to Mayor David Dinkins in 1992.

There's no point in responding to crime.  You arrest somebody, Kimberly lets them out the next day.  Now her BFF is going to be mayor, so there's even less reason for the police to put their lives on the line.  We are living in slow moving anarchy.  The rich people are buying private security for their streets, the rest of us just gotta hope nothing bad happens walking home every night.

Doesn't DA Foxx do that only on non violent misdemeanors?

Cops who refuse to do their jobs and deliberately ignore citizens in need should be thrown into prison. In a case as severe as the Uvalde cops that let all those kids get shot, I'd support a death sentence.

I don't care how tough the job is or how mean the local officials are, if you're a cop and you're unwilling to protect and serve, then the least you can do is stop mooching off the taxpayers you're refusing to defend. Absolutely disgusting, and shame on anybody who defends such dereliction of duty.

You are right, they should still do the job. But they want people to get out of the way, so they CAN DO THEIR JOBS. Stop second-guessing everything and analyze the info when it comes about about a specific shooting.

Imagine a liberal cop having done this when, say, Bloomberg was elected. You can't, b/c democrats just do their jobs. Republicans always have to inject their politics into other people's lives.

You serious? The liberal teachers and college professors don't inject their politics too?
