Virginia still has attitudes of the "Old South"

George Allen, Jim Webb, both of those guys loved the Confederacy. Funny how 12 years goes by quickly. None of them would probably make it electorally in Virginia.

Warner/Kaine/Obama really changed Virginia's politics in two decades. Even John Kerry won Fairfax County for the first time since LBJ in 1964

Also, the VA GOP just nominated Chris Stewart for Senate in 2018. The have no room to talk.

Northam should resign. Nothing more, nothing less.

If it come out in Oct. 2013, Terry McAuliffe would have lost again. VA Dems got a break despite Northam. EW would have gotten more black votes.

Both are left wing groups that helped Northam win. He will probably have to resign.

Virginia is the Old-New South fault lines. Like the Mason-Dixon line.

Bill Clinton, a son of the old South. He started the New South, along with Al Gore, Zell Miller (originally), Sam Nunn, John Breaux, etc.

Barack Obama reinvented the New South with wins in VA, NC, FL, and almost GA in 2008 and 2012.

The VAGOP is on the brink of extinction, but they can get some wins in the 2020s.

The VADEMS are like the MOGOP/NJDEMS/NYDEMS: Self-defeating losses, but they win at the end because of the advantages they have.

Everyone has baggage---rarely do people have a clean record, or squeaky clean image.

The allegations sound true---if Kavanaugh can be seen as a rapist, why can't Fairfax?

Litmus tests will have to be made for every person running for office post-Trump.

If Fairfax goes, and Northam and Herring stays on, black Virginia Democrats will say that it is racially motivated, that the Democrats take them for granted and turnout may be low in November resulting in VAGOP retaining a bit of power.

Virginia Democrats have boxed themselves in a deep hole.

Bob Menendez and Scott DesJarlais are still in office. And I think what Menendez did was more egregious considering there's court documents of his transgressions.

Some black grassroots activists may feel the VA Democrats are too white privileged for allowing a possible smear against a black man while two white privileged males continue to govern.
