https://www.politico.com/news/2020/06/29/jacksonville-mask-wearing-gop-convention-344530

Quote
Jacksonville, where the Republican National Convention is slated to be held in August, is planning to institute a city-wide mask order to stem the spread of coronavirus, city hall sources tell POLITICO.

The announcement, scheduled for noon, requires indoor-mask wearing only — not an outside mandate that other local governments in Florida have passed. Jacksonville is unlike any other municipality in the state because the sprawling city essentially encompasses all of Duval County in northeast Florida.
.
.
.
Curry is determined to have the GOP convention take place safely in Jacksonville, and those familiar with his thinking say he wants to do what he can to once again reduce infection rates and rising hospitalizations. Jacksonville’s infection and hospitalization rates are well below those in Miami-Dade County in the southeast corner of the state.

From the story linked there:

Quote
Pence said the party will consult with health officials, Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis about the appropriate structure, but that “there is consideration being given to having the convention at an outdoor setting.”

“We’ll put the health of everyone participating first,” he added.

Pence said the RNC will release details in the upcoming days on what protective measures will be implemented.

From that story:

Quote
Republican delegates would still be meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina, the original venue for the convention, on the week beginning Aug. 24, Trump said.

He added he would still give a convention speech but "in a different form" and said there were plans for so-called "telerallies" during the week.

Sounds like they're going to try something similar to what the Dems are doing.  Unclear how many delegates will show up in Charlotte though, or how many will even be allowed to show up.
