1 day for Fall Parent Teacher Conference (Sept 6) (High School Students only, but no classes for anybody)

I think your parents should demand to be included in the parent teacher conference.  The high school students shouldn't get the advantage of having their parents get face time with the teacher that isn't available to your parents.

Bushie, you should start a burger counter in Update.  At the end of each week, post approximately how many burgers you ate that week.  How many has it been this week, for example?

So, all hamburgers and red meat are bad for you?

Er... yeah dude. Where have you been?

I know they are, but can't anyone enjoy them without feeling guilty?

This is a classic Update exchange.  Bushie asks what seems like a sincere question about whether something is healthy.  The answer is "of course not".  Bushie then acts like he knew that all along.  Bushie, if you "know they are" then why did you ask "So, all hamburgers and red meat are bad for you?"

In any case, Bushie, can you go an entire week without eating a hamburger?  Try it now.  It's late Friday night in the US now, right?  Try not eating a hamburger until next week Saturday.

Food poisoning with symptoms that last for four days (and counting)?  Does that really happen?  Sounds pretty long to me, but I'm no expert.

So you were lying a few weeks ago when you claimed you were walking (back in July, I think it was?)

He said in July that he and/or his parents were walking Blondie "at least once a day":

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=174552.msg3803833#msg3803833

Now I suspect that by "walking", he meant wander around the yard for a few minutes, while Blondie runs around and poops.

Bushie, what are your thoughts on the impending US lead attack on Syria?

I think Bushie should ask his parents for their opinions on this one, and then he can report back to us.  I'd also be interested in hearing the thoughts of the deaf girl in his CAD class.

Bushie, do you tithe 10% of the money your parents give you to support your church?

If his dad is already tithing on his own paycheck, then wouldn't that be double taxation?

Were the two hot dogs (+bun and condiments) the only things you had for dinner?  No fruit or vegetables or anything?  (Maybe the ketchup on the hot dog is the closest you come to eating fruit and vegetables?)

Maybe they do things differently in Australia, but here in America no one's ever said you have to eat fruits and vegetables every day.

I lived in the US for longer than you've been alive, and I think both there and here in Oz, I've eaten fruit and/or vegetables almost every day of my life.  Not with every single meal, no.  But to me, two hot dogs doesn't really sound like much of a dinner.  I'd want *something* beyond that, whether or not it's fruit or veg.

I agree with you, but unfortunately Bushie has taken it upon himself to be the arbiter of what is and isn't American. And eating vegetables and fruits every day is unfortunately not. Sad

In Bushie-world, an "American" diet apparently consists of slightly cutting back on how much crap you eat, rather than replacing any of that crap with something healthy.

Bushie, what did the Bush family clan think of Miley Cyrus at the VMAs? I bet you guys weren't having any of that!

I think we need to come up with discussion topics like this, for the Bushie clan to discuss every evening at dinner supper.  That'll give them an incentive to eat a real meal together as a family, rather than just rely on fast food.

Torie, have you ever read the verse take the log out of your own eye before pointing out other people's sin?  This means taking a look at yourself before pointing the fingers at others.  You're in your early 60's, you of all people should know that.

Is Torie actually a Christian?  Why are you expecting him to follow the Bible?

Guys, the other day, I stormed into a meeting that my boss was in, and yelled expletives at him for ten minutes, before being thrown out by security.  Of course, I was fired, and have a restraining order against me, but I think it's best not to dwell on that too much.  It's water under the bridge now.

Then I drove over to a friend's house to help paint his house, and I think I hit a kid on the way there.  Not sure if the kid's OK or not, as I didn't have time to stop.  My friend really values my input on how to paint the house, so I wasn't going to let anything stop me.  Maybe that wasn't the right thing to do, and maybe I belong in jail, or at least deserve to lose my license.  I don't know.  We could debate it all day long, but it seems kind of pointless at this hour.  Best just to move on.

Your point is?

We could go round and round trying to get at my point, but I think it's time to move on.  The post has been written, and I can't take it back.

Duke, normally you are right about the car shopping and bowling, but the bowling especially is a commitment I have had for two weeks, so I wasn't going to let anything get in my way.  I was asked by Mom to go car shopping with her and Dad as they value my input.  Mom made the decisions, as it was her car, but I was able to give my input.  As far as the doctor's note, be that as it may, it's water under the bridge now.  We could debate it all day long, but all of it is a moot point at this late hour.

So bowling is a more important commitment to keep than your commitment to passing a class that is supposedly going to be your key to a future career?

You missed the part where he said that that's water under the bridge.  We can't cry over spilled milk at this point, Eraser.  No matter whether CAD was his dad's idea or his idea, or whether he skips class because he's sick or because he doesn't feel like going, it's time to move on, because it's late.  Otherwise, we could keep going round and round on this until the cows come home (or a baseball game comes on).

Bushie, again, you should try going just one week without eating any hamburgers.  You could even start after your dinner tonight.  It should be the easiest thing in the world to do it for just one week.

Also, approx. what's the average amount of time you spend watching TV on a weekday, on a day that you also attend CAD?

I will definitely try to cut down the burger intake.  On an evening that I attend CADD, generally 5-6 hours of TV on a night I'm home all evening.  On nights that I'm busy, it is more like 2-3 hours.

Good grief.  5-6 hours on a weeknight, during an evening when you're home?  (And I assume some additional time in front of the computer on top of that?  And probably at least 5-6 hours as well on weekends, holidays, and sick days.)  Didn't you say that you weren't walking Blondie much anymore, because you were too busy focusing on CAD?

Bushie, you might try to cut down your TV watching at least somewhat.  That's an awful lot of time you could be doing something else.

Some things you could try if you cut out an hour or two of TV time each night: Exercise.  Learning how to cook (like how to grill hamburgers).  Doing something social (I know you have Bible study, but can't you find some friends out there somewhere to do something else with people besides your family?).  Starting a hobby that doesn't involve sitting on the couch for hours.  Or heck, even reading a book.

What do you think?

Am I the only one here who, when reading "myfitnesspal", thinks of mypalfish?
