Usually the Speaker of the House is a member of the House.

although it isn't constitutionally required.

But I assume you know this, and I assume Assad was joking.

Nancy Pelosi, though she will replace him in that position before he retires. Smiley

If the Dems take control of the House (God willing), they would not be so stupid as to elect that pile of trash Pelosi to the Speaker's chair.  There are FAR more qualified Democrats than Pelosi.
