I don't see any advantage to joining a "party" with only one member.   As an independent, you could vote in some primaries of both the major parties, and as a Republican, you could influence who they nominate for various offices and possibly get endorsements for your own campaigns.  But unless you think you can create a groundswell of support for this new party, I don't see what good it does you.

Keep in mind... the Progressive Party started with one member...
