While it's certainly an improvement that it's no longer 365 days I'm still leaning towards thinking that this might be too long still.

This is a good question; I'll try and find out as I'm not unsure where this was actually codified.

Did this ever get checked?

From when I checked I was 90% sure people still get a free move; but I can't work out what law this was included in.

I'm not sure I'd want to remove the right for new players to have one free move

Honestly, you should just live where you live irl. I don't understand why people want to strategically register. It's pathetic.

When I joined this wasn't possible as England wasn't available- and it still feels stupid to move after being in the Northeast for so long.

I'm not sure I'd want to remove the right for new players to have one free move

Its more an accident of the wording switch. So it could be restored by giving an explicit exception for new players as such.

I'm happy with this but would rather not draft the wording- I know my own strengths and election regulations here are not one of them!

How about something like, "Newly registered players shall be able to make one move within the first week of registration" or something along those lines?

I think this seems fair- I get the sense that with the expansion of the regions to beyond the US we've had people register without knowing what region they would be in & I think it's fair to give new players a chance.

might be easier to table this if I'm reading the changes correctly; I doubt they'll be a huge backlog with bills that would stop it from passing quickly in a new session.
