While it's certainly an improvement that it's no longer 365 days I'm still leaning towards thinking that this might be too long still.

This is a decent bill to start. What is the intent of this legislation?

This makes region packing more difficult so that candidates can't bus in voters from other regions to bolster their campaigns.

Why would Labor be interested in stopping that, lol.

Does this remove the one free move for new people or is that already gone prior to this?

This is a good question; I'll try and find out as I'm not unsure where this was actually codified.

From when I checked I was 90% sure people still get a free move; but I can't work out what law this was included in.

From my reading of it, the wording being eliminated here in this bill is probably what allows for it though it doesn't explicitly say so it is somewhat implied.

I'm not sure I'd want to remove the right for new players to have one free move

I'm fine with that as well, though I don't particularly care either way.

Its more an accident of the wording switch. So it could be restored by giving an explicit exception for new players as such.

Honestly, you should just live where you live irl. I don't understand why people want to strategically register. It's pathetic.

When I joined this wasn't possible as England wasn't available- and it still feels stupid to move after being in the Northeast for so long.

I'm happy with this but would rather not draft the wording- I know my own strengths and election regulations here are not one of them!

How about something like, "Newly registered players shall be able to make one move within the first week of registration" or something along those lines?

I think this seems fair- I get the sense that with the expansion of the regions to beyond the US we've had people register without knowing what region they would be in & I think it's fair to give new players a chance.

I agree. I think a little leeway is fairer to new players.

Echoing these statements. Most new registers probably don't know what region they're in and locking them to one place could be detrimental to their ability to run for office depending on the dynamics of any region's politics at a given time.
