For reasons I have made clear in the past, I will be opposing this bill in any form. It is not realistically possible for us to simply "create" issues out of nothing for Atlasia to deal with, but we can address issues facing the United States.
Or so some of us thought, back when the game was set up. The untruth of the statement is, I think, plainly clear to anyone who bothers to check the history of gm-ing in Atlasia.

And you strive to make the problem worse. Wonderful.
How so? I'm removing the (theoretical, not that we including our gms were ever up to it) task to police the entire world.

Because the further removed from the real world we get, the fewer issues we have to debate and cover.

Well this implants us right in the real world. If there is a US in Atlasia's world then we can comment on the real life foreign affairs and international incidents instead of having people make stuff up or try to act like the US in any way. According to the GM the Iraq War has been won but we still have troops there which really doesn't mesh with reality in any way. Basically this makes Atlasia a part of the real world, we will be able to speak out against the Iraq War or the shooting of protestors in Burma without having to try and make those fit in to the GM created world that was, haphazardly and incompletely, made for us by people like Niles Caulder, John Ford, and Sam. We'll basically be able to comment and make policy based on the world, like many other small nations, but effect international relations in a very small way.

I would like to now exercise my power, under Amendment XIX of the Atlasian Constitution, to submit a redraft of a bill passed by the Senate. The Presidential Redraft reads:

Resolution on the issue of Atlasian recognition of the United States of America

Whereas, contrary to the official standpoint of the Atlasian government, the United States of America are still in existence, and still in possession of all the territories formerly in their possession,

Section 1

1. The Government of Atlasia is urged to recognize de jure the United States of America, and the legality of the government of the United States of America.
2. The Government of Atlasia is urged to establish diplomatic relations with the United States of America.

Section 2

1. The recognition of the United States, under the above terms, shall not take effect until such time as it approved of by a majority vote of the people of Atlasia (ignoring abstentions).

2. This vote shall take place no later than one month following the passage of this resolution under the overseeing of the Department of Forum Affairs and shall last for 72 hours. At least 5 days official notice shall be given by the Department of the upcoming ballot.

3. The vote shall constitute an election for the purposes of sections 10, 11, 13, 14 of the Consolidated Electoral System Reform Act (as amended).

Nay.  Simply put, I trust the voters of the Southeast to reject this proposal, but not the other Regions.  Tongue
It's not going by regions. Tongue

Yes its by a simple majority vote of all Atlasians not an amendment style regional referendum.
