I support this but I thought it might have to do with granting people the freedom to masturbate in public due to the title. Heh.

I had the same initial thought.

My only concern for this would be people drinking and wandering out in public, potentially walking into streets and the like, putting themselves and others at risk. Otherwise, I don't have much of a problem with it.

Yes, but this law would make it okay to do that more freely without fear of any consequences. Maybe we should simply tighten the wording to mention intoxication as still being illegal, if it doesn't say that, and vote on that. I'd be much more excited to support that than this current version.

I'm on my iPhone so I do not exactly remember the wording in the bill, but I don't think it made any distinction between enjoying yourself in public or being intoxicated in public. Do the two go hand in hand? I know they do for me. Wink

I'm really indifferent on the issue, but I think this could cause more harm than good. Sure, I'm not for arresting people for having a beer outside of the bar, but it could potentially endanger people, increase crime and the like. I'll likely abstain on this in its current form, but I'm not really thrilled about it. I don't understand why it's really needed, and why anyone would really care, in all honesty, about drinking in public on the street.

You also will have the homeless drunk in public and no laws to stop them from disturbing the citizenry. I mean, this could potentially cause all sorts of problems.

I have too many reservations with this, now that I think of all the byproducts that could result.
