I bet Flake, Collins and Corker are "concerned" by that tweet.
Heck, they might even be "troubled".

What happens if they release a sternly worded statement though?

Here's a good example of how a Republican Senator can do something without "voting against their conservative ideology" or whatever. Simply say that if Trump fires Sessions you'll refuse to vote for any replacement because you don't trust him to appoint someone who will obey the rule of law. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

*gasp* Surely they won't go that far.

That would prove beyond any doubt that they are truly reasonable™, sensible™, moderate heroes™ resisting and standing up to Trump, and they deserve 60%+ approval ratings from Democrats.

Let me know when Democrats are able to come up with something more effective.

Sasse and Collins have already warned that a Sessions replacement wouldn't get confirmed.

Have they? I've seen them say it was a bad idea, there wasn't time, it would be hard to get another AG confirmed, etc. But I haven't seen any of them say they'd refuse to vote for a replacement on principle.

Collins' statement was very noncommittal. But Sasse's was pretty close, so point taken.
