The Hamas showed their true colors in recent days. Despite my criticisms for the policies of the Netanjayu governments, I actually hope the Isreali forces are able to totally disband Hamas and hunt down the terrorists. You can argue treatment of people in Gaza is terrible, but committing such acts of terror against civilians and civilian infrastructure is barbaric.

How likely is a unity government at this point? German news reported earlier that Gantz and Lapid offered a national unity cabinet with Bibi as long as the far-right parties leave. I guess that would be a good solution and also sink the justice reform.

Once Hamas starts killing hostages en masse, there is nothing that will be able to save them and most likely nothing that will be able to save Gaza. Israel's rage will be such that it could very well spin out into a full regional war with Israel going full Allied bombing raids on the terrorists and their sponsors. So if possible, a joint US/Egypt invasion raid might just be the best option right now.

At most I can see us providing air support. I highly doubt we send ground troops

Yeah, ground troops should be avoided. But I'd be fine with the US Air Force carrying out massive air strikes against military targets if necessary. The Hamas needs to be destroyed.

"U.S. Can't Easily Meet Israel's Requests for Ammo, Official Says"

Ukraine and Israel need to have a knife fight to see who gets the limited ammo the USA have left.

The Israelis have one of the most powerful, high tech militaries in the world. Ukraine needs our help far more.

This, and furthermore I don't believe the US isn't able to ramp up ammu productions. It's still an industrial superpower in that regard. The enormous capabilities were already game changers in two world wars.

They found the bodies of 40 babies in a kibbutz.

The US can't stop what's to come now. No one can. That's not an endorsement of it, that's just a statement of fact. This isn't 9/11, this is the impact of Pearl Harbor combined with the sadism of the Holocaust, and it's unleashed something in Israel that won't be put back in the bottle.

I'm actually disgusted right now. Does Hamas have any humanity in them?

That was a rhetorical question btw. Idk how the hell Israel is going to deal with the occupation of the Gaza strip if ppl have become that radicalized. Nightmare scenario.

My concern is that they invade the Gaza strip without a real post-war strategy. Although this is a vastly different conflict, the lessons of Iraq should be in everybody's mind. Nonetheless, I believe Israel has no choice but try to go after Hamas with full force.

The problem is that the obvious answer for post-invasion Gaza, "turn administration back over to the PA and Fatah," would last all of a week or two before Hamas reemerges.

Or potentially an even more radical Islamist force. At least that's what I read in the news here. Kind of reminds me of Afghanistan with the Taliban, which internally push back against the so-called Islamic State.

German media reporting that Lufthansa Airline offers to take all German citizens back home from Israel, with four flights per day. Switzerland already launched evacuation flights for their citizens.

Honestly, Hezbollah making serious military moves would be stupid. It's an empty threat or a bluff. They know that Israel war superior military, let alone with possible logistical assistance or air strikes by the US.

Biden hasn't been ( that chummy) with Nethenyahu for a while. This isn't new, dating back to the Obama days.

Yeah, and for good reasons. Netanyahu has had difficult personal relationships with both. I hope he's replaced by Benny Gantz or Yair Lapid soon.

Biden to Netanyahu is basically the equivalent of Lukashenko to Putin

Imagine actually believing this Roll Eyes

I wanted to reply exactly the same before I saw your post. Yeah, imagine actually believing such nonsense.

Biden announces US airdrops of humanitarian assistance into Gaza

Quote
The United States will begin air dropping food aid to the people of Gaza, President Joe Biden announced Friday, as the humanitarian crisis deepens and Israel continues to resist opening additional land crossings to allow more assistance into the war-torn strip.

Speaking in the Oval Office, Biden said the US would be “pulling out every stop” to get additional aid into Gaza, which has been under heavy bombardment by Israel since the October 7 Hamas terror attacks.

Biden said aid was not flowing into Gaza quickly enough, and said he was working to broker an immediate ceasefire deal that would allow additional aid in.

The airdrops will provide some relief to those on the ground. However, their use is not a sustainable solution for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, as the method can only bring in a fraction of the amount of aid that could be transported into the enclave by trucks.

I'd imagine the Israelis would want to inspect. They seem to be somewhat arbitrary on what they're allowing in:

Why wouldn't they trust the US with that?

Iran is launching drones against Israel 😒

I hope Israel's military will be able to shot them down, every single one.

To all Israeli posters (and literally any Israeli): Please stay safe.
