He may not have a more diverse resume before taking office, but Joe Biden is the most experienced president. Served in local government, then 36 years as senator including as chair of Judiciary and Foreign Relations Committees, and then for two terms as active vice president.

Otherwise, Poppy Bush had broad experience: Congressman, UN Ambassador, RNC Chair, unofficial ambassador to China, CIA Director and then vice president. Was also in the military for active duty.
