Quinnipiac is horrific for biden today

The have long been on the junk poll train. While they had a Democratic bias until around 2020, it's now one of Biden's worst pollsters. I never forget their Biden 33% approval rating from a few months back while Republicans were just ahead in the generic congressional ballot by a single point.

How makes this sense? Just seems like polling in the US completely sucks.

Probably a big reason why Biden's approvals are so low.

Progressives hate him, but they sure as hell aren't voting Republican.

But do they expect him to do? Ok, he could so more student loan debt through executive action, but anything elese he hasn't delivered is because of congressional realities.

Or do they just want him replaced with a younger president?

Another poll showing that while groups may disapprove of Biden, that isn't translating to how they're voting downballot.

The bigger question is whether those leaning Democratic or answering these polls that disapprove of Biden actually end up in the voting place or cast their ballot via mail or whether they just sit the midterms out. Republicans unfortunately are more energized to vote to own the libs and show Brandon the middle finger.

This poll has D+1 GCB, they cannot be serious. How is Qpac still allowed to commission polls?

Yeah, this is flat out ridiculous. You could argue the approval alone is an outlier, but a Democratic lead in the congressional ballot is just a joke. Just a reminder that Biden outperformed most Democratic candidates downballot in 2020. But what's new? Q has been a laughingstock for some years now.

Bold prediction; by Christmas Biden’s approval ratings will be 46-47%.

I think that really depends on whether inflation is cooling down or not.

WOW! Thank you America!

While this makes me incredibly happy, imagine what would be possible with passing more stuff like HR1, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, public option and a meanigful immigration reform that also deals with Dreamers and improves smart border security.

Gallup, Aug 1-23

44% approve (+6)
53% disapprove (-6)

(from their last poll in late July)

https://news.gallup.com/poll/398117/biden-job-rating-rises-highest-year.aspx

Wow, the highest in Gallup since the Enemy of the People media decided to try to destroy his presidency because he took away their beloved war. Wonderful news!
Honestly I think now democrats could run on having withdrawn from Afghanistan.

This kind of short term unpopular but more long term popular policy

Agreed. If I were advising them, I'd phrase it something like "Biden ended the endless wars" and that currently no armed forces are in active conflict while terrorists still get taken out (referring to al-Zawahiri). I'd also mention that Trump just talked about and play a clip of Trump accusing others of "all talk, no action". A phrase he often used; and Biden can also play that one when it comes to infrastructure. Trump only proclaimed one infrastructure weeks after another and Biden delivered.

IBD/TIPP (A+ at 538), Sep. 7-9, 1277 adults (1-month change):

Approve 46 (+7)
Disapprove 48 (-5)

Yeeeees, baby, heat up! He needs to continue with this communcation style, keeping pushing on the issues the public largely sides with him while the economy remains in good condition and Republicans remain way too extreme.

The Economist/YouGov weekly tracker, Oct. 8-11, 1500 adults including 1330 RV and 1030 LV

Adults:

Approve 45 (+2)
Disapprove 46 (-3)

Strongly approve 19 (+2)
Strongly disapprove 36 (nc)

RV:

Approve 48 (+1)
Disapprove 49 (nc)

Strongly approve 22 (+1)
Strongly disapprove 40 (-1)

GCB: D 46 (+1), R 44 (nc)

LV:

Approve 48 (-1)
Disapprove 51 (+1)

Strongly approve 24 (+1)
Strongly disapprove 44 (nc)

GCB: D 48 (+1), R 46 (nc)

That must be one of the best polls since August 2021, when his approval ratings went in the tank after he took away the media's war.

Yeah, this is beyond stupid.

I always wonder what these geniuses think the Republican Party is gonna do coming November 9 or January 3 to reduce gas prices? Or do they think Biden has some magic button in the Oval Office to increase gas prices? However, I don't just want to point across the Atlantic, Europeans aren't so much smarter either.

I also wonder how they think Biden “raised” gas prices. I’ve heard the pipeline argument quite a lot even tho Biden has approved more drilling permits than any president.

He also released oil reserves again just recently to drive prices down.

The hilarious thing about that common assumption is that if any president was controlling gas prices, they would never really go up. Why would any government official running for reelection and trying to keep his party in power want high prices? Or if reducing them was so easy, why wouldn't Biden already have done so with the stroke of a pen?

The 3-day average is at 49/50 today, its highest level since August 2021.

Inflation easing, no recession (yet) on the horizon, falling gas prices, etc. All of the things that were stacked against Biden the last year have been fading lately it seems.

Too bad a do-nothing GOP House is coming in and they'll actually relish the country making no progress because they put politics over country as they run out the clock for 2024 prospects.

I think this may help Biden in 2024 because he can blame Republicans for not getting more done. It also relieves the pressure from Democrats to operate with such narrow majorities. Of course, I'd prefer it the other way and Democrats in the majority, but it is what it is now. Maybe it also backfires if the public feels Republicans overreach with investigations and grandstanding. Or force a government shutdown. Biden might effectively deal with such a situation as he has a lot of experience.

Yeah! Though I can't believe we're already approaching the middle of his term. But hopefully this is just 25% of his presidency.

I think that may be from the fallout of the speaker's election? Their circus really put a bad light on Republicans and their dysfunction.

What, if anything, could boost his approval ratings above 50% before November 2024?

The only thing I could think of is if Russia fully retreats from Ukraine and Zelensky directly credits Biden for it. Even then I’m not sure. Part of me feels that Biden could literally authorize funding that leads to a cancer cure and not get back above 50%.

Given what he accomplished legislatively, the jobs market, cooling inflation, the leadership in Ukraine as well as around the world and the Republican gross incompetence and their lack of will to seriously govern, Biden should actually be headed for a landslide reelection.

Back to 49/49 on Rasmussen. Haven't had any new polls that cover the Trump arrest yet.

For some reason Rassy has both one of Biden's approval rating, yet he's polling weaker for 2024 compared to other outlets.

Gallup has been one of Biden's worst pollsters for a while, I would take it with a grain of salt. No other pollster is showing a -22 approval.

His 538 adults average is -10 and RV/LV average is -7. Both have been around those levels for quite a while.

Interestingly Rassy has been his best pollster, even showing him in net plus territory frequently. Weird.

Q-Pac at 38/57, CNN at 41/59, Marist at 45/49, YouGov at 48/50, Monmouth at 42/54. This is why we average, folks!

Q-Pac also has Biden slightly ahead of Trump and down only once against DeSandwich. I honestly doubt that lines up with their approvals. This pollster shouldn't be taken seriously, as they previously had both extreme outliers in both directions.

Note: favorability, not approval, but didn't think it necessarily deserved its own thread

+9 among 18-29 year olds doesn't sound too good, though. Do young people struggle to like him due to age? Biden is definitely way more modern and socially liberal than a lot of boomers are.

Perhaps we've entered an era where it's impossible for a majority of the country to like the President. I don't think Biden has done such a bad job to where he warrants a 40% approval rating.

I wonder whether a charismatic Independent president would have 60+% approval rating who supporters universal healthcare, higher taxes on the wealthy while being protectionist, tough on immigration, tough on China and legal abortion in the first trimester while banning late term abortion entirely. So basically someone who's neither a Democrat nor a Republican and basically with the majority on every major issue.

Biden isn't at 40% in Rassy polls he is at 46/52 and Trump is at 35% in Harris X polls

Rassy on July 24, 2023:

Biden 44% approval / 55% disapproval

https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/biden_administration/prez_track_july24

The same poll had Trump at 51% approval rating. Who's going to believe that? I didn't even trust them when they had Biden 50/50 while others had him down.
