Not surprising. Goodbye Mr. Colyer.

Kobach strong on the border? Donny, you realize what a governor's role is and you also find Kansas in a map?

He wants to keep out the liberals from Colorado.

A wall that Colorado pays for? Huh

I'm rooting for Colyer. KKKobach should be nowhere near the governor's chair.

I’m so excited for Governor Kelly, the stars have truly aligned for her.
Orman might prevent it from happening.

Laura Kelly is running on education like Kathleen Sebelius, Dems can get elected statewide in KS😁

Paul Davis ran on a noun, a verb, and "education" and lost despite being an even better fundraiser and more energetic candidate than Laura Kelly. You need a lot more than just education to win in KS statewide.

Has Kelly a lock on the nomination? I thought Carl Brewer was the frontrunner and the best candidate for the general?

I hope Colyer edges this out and he can somehow find the 200 votes he needs to win. We can't afford Kobach. Yes, Colyer is still a HP, but he's a much lesser evil than KKKobach.

Did Democrats underperform here or why are there so much less votes cast in the primary? Looks like they are doomed in November, or are there so many Republicans crossing over on the state level?

To answer your question, this is KS, a state that has, if I recall, only elected one D senator in its entire life. The state is ancestrally D, and so there are many D voters who are still registered R, a sort of WV scenario. We were never going to beat them in the primary, but this is still a great increase from the previous years.

Well, there were two Democratic governors elected in recent decades. Kathleen Sebelius won two terms and her reelection in 2006 was by a substantial margin.

You do realize Kobach is easier to beat, right?

It's Kansas after all and the risk not worth it. Especially with Goofy Greg in the race.

I wish Kansas had a jungle primary. Opposition against Kobach wouldn't be divided.

Well, the general election would be Colyer vs. Kobach if Kansas had the same primary as California does. A run-off like in Texas or Georgia would be interesting, but Kobach would probably win the second round.

Some, like President Johnson, care about making sure all parties' nominees are the best they can be out of the available crop. Others, like many here, don't.

Depends on how the race stands. For Gavin Newsom for example, I wanted the weakest candidate so that he wins by the biggest margin possible. But he would win regardless. That's not the case in Kansas, and, despite the bar being low, Colyer is still better than Kobach.

Looks like Colyer is busing in illegals to gin up the vote margin but in the end he is finished. My prayers have been answered....Kobach was be the nominee

Be careful what you wish for. Hillary also wanted to run against Trump and we know how this turned out. I'm rooting for Colyer.

Too bad... if Kobach wins in November, voters get what they deserve.

At least there is not a Senate seat up this year.

Roberts retires in 2020. Kobach could take that Senate seat.

Or Colyer, if he loses finally?

I think Colyer is done if he loses this. 2020 Senate race will likely be a battle between Yoder (if he wins this year) and Marshall.

If Colyer and Kobach were smart, they'd run for one office each and endorse each other. Kobach would better run for the senate (from his perspective), because his favorite topic illegal immigration is actually not such a big deal for a small state governor in the middle of America. The senate would be a better platform for the guy.

Yeah! This is fine. Still a toss-up, but good news for the Democrats.

Is Orman being offered a position if Kelly wins? Walker made Mallott his running mate after droping out. Btw, Begich and Walker should do the same.

Is this real Orman dropping out? Can't find any press reports on that.

So conservatives still have a veto-proof majority, meaning Kelly is basically powerless? Oh, wonderful.

As far as I know, some Republicans in the Kansas legislature are more moderate and were opposed Brownback. They + Democrats have a majority. Given Kelly's connections in the legislature where she served since 2005, I think she can get things done.
