Yes/Yes, though sadly I heard that only 60% of the country would vote for a gay President and only 50% an atheist.

It depends.

If the person's homosexuality or atheism were his/her central attribute, then no.

If a gay or atheist candidate had the right position on the important issues, and was not obsessed with gay rights or destroying religion, then probably.
