I'm from Texas and it was quite obvious that Perry's days in the TX Governor's Mansion were numbered due to his horrible 2012 presidential campaign (poor debate performances and gaffes on campaign trail doomed any shot of Perry's 4th term bid in '14).

As of July 8, 2013, Perry is a lame duck for the next 18 months of his 3rd full term until January 20, 2015 when he leaves the governorship for good. He will also leave with the 10th longest gubernatorial tenure with 14 years and 5,144 days and he also leaves as the 4th Texas governor following Allan Shivers (37th Governor, July 11, 1949-January 15, 1957), Price Daniel (38th Governor, January 15, 1957-January 15, 1963) and John Connally (39th Governor: January 15, 1963-January 21, 1969) to serve 3 terms.

I also note that among Southern governors, who've served longer: Perry will rank at No. 4 behind Edwin Edwards, Jim Hunt, and George Wallace. Perry did however, surpass Bill Clinton and Mike Huckabee though.

Senator Gass, I think someone will try to break Perry's 14-year record sooner or later.

I'm still betting Davis does NOT run for the Texas Governor's Mansion.

If Davis does jump in, she will get NICK SABAN'D and crushed by Abbott in 2014.

Abbott has won all 5 statewide elections by double digit landslide margins.
