Assuming it's not a school night, they have a legal license, etc.

My parents did actually and I didn't think much of it, but I realize now how quite permissive that was. I didn't even carry a cell phone at the time, so it wasn't like they could contact me either.

The best part is I didn't even have to inform them beforehand really, just leave a note or something at home, something like this "Hey, I went out to Minot to go see some indie bands, I'll be back whenever. -Zack". I'm having a tough time believing it myself in hindsight.

The hilarious thing is I bet most parents in the suburbs here wouldn't let their 16-year old even drive to my neighborhood and hang out past 3AM even if it's only 10-20 miles from where they live!
