McCain's incompetance in campaigning has a lot to do with technological illiteracy. See Supersoulty's recent point about Obama's coordination of events and McCain's. Also that Obama manages his campaign from a Blackberry while McCain doesn't know the difference between a Mac and a PC. McCain is trying to run an antiquated pre-internet campaign, where traditional media mattered most and net-organizing wasn't needed. Obama is looking toward the future. McCain's failure to completely understand  modern society may be a big portion of his downfall. This is also a large factor in how Obama defeated Hillary (though granted Hillary was running more of a "2000" campaign where the internet was involved but not key or to the extent it needs to be today rather than the "1980" campaign McCain is running.)
