You're kidding, right? She's having a moral panic about satanic shoes. She needs to get a grip.

Who is this supposed to convince? There's nothing wrong with the shoes, and you and your ilk have no right to judge what other people choose to spend their money on.

I dunno, I'm going to say that if you spend $1018 on a pair of shoes you're either quite gullible or lacking in common sense and good decision making skills.

Imagine unironically being offended by that music video. Zealots lives must be so f***ing boring.

You think this is boring?

Your schtick gets boring when you use it to defend Kristi Noem blatantly pandering to some of the worst elements of the US political spectrum.

I mean I agree with her in the sense that I'm not ever spending $1,018 on a pair of shoes, Satanic or not.

This is the same person who told Penn Quaker Girl to abandon Hinduism a few months back. His proselytizing is pretty sub par.

I'm sorry, what!?

Yeah, everything else aside (& there's a lot of it, but needless thread spamming to up his post count pales in comparison to this), BRTD just earned permanent Mega-HP status in my book. You have no moral right whatsoever to use your enamoration with your own religion to tell somebody else's religion/core values/beliefs off. There's a difference between merely exercising one's religious beliefs & just being a straight-up asshole, & the described incident unquestionably falls on the latter end of that spectrum.

What you're hearing is actually an extreme distortion of what I said, all I did was say that many Indian Christians are the descendants of lower castes and "untouchables" who converted to escape the caste system. The people I referred to as "needing Christ" was not a poster but a demographic who had been polled at heavily voting for Trump.

I don't know what those videos have to do with Lil Nas X or the people offended by his music video, but genuinely yes, just because Hardcore music is loud doesn't make it interesting.

I literally did not know who Lil Nas X was before this thread.

But I'm referring to the claim that zealots are "boring", look at those pits and how crazy those people are going for Jesus Christ! And those videos make me so eager to get back into such pits, so glad I'll be getting the second vaccine dose soon.

I can’t tell what’s sadder; people in this thread thinking 'Hell' and 'Satan' are actually real things that people should be concerned about, or BRTD - a 37 year old man - being eager to join a Christian mosh pit.

Write-in third option: Thinking shoes are uniquely immoral and ungodly while being a frequent customer at various strip clubs while not being self aware enough about one's self and one's own religion to see the irony.

Uh....some of the women dancing at said strip clubs have things like cross or ichthys tattoos and some wear cross necklaces or earrings. A lot of them are Christians too.

There are many many MANY LGBT people who love God and would be appalled by Lil Nas X's antics here. He DOES NOT speak for all LGBT people. I know many who given a choice between Jesus Christ and Lil Nas X would choose Jesus time and time again in a nanosecond.

Lil Nas X wants us to trade faith in Jesus Christ and $1,018 for a pair of shoes.

Nope, not a deal that's worth it at all! I'm not taking that trade.

I wouldn't take it even if it was just $1,018 for that matter either.

The choice presented before you isn't Jesus or Lil Nas X. It's Kristi Noem or Lil Nas X. It's a question about freedom of religion, which includes freedom FROM religion.

No it's not. I can reject both, in that I would never vote for Kristi Noem, and also reject Lil Nas X in that I'll never listen to him or support anything he creates. And I wouldn't buy these stupid sneakers regardless because I'm not ever spending $1018 on shoes.

I think I know why BRTD hates South Park so much now. Not only did they mock Family Guy, they also perfectly ridiculed his music tastes:

Uh, no? This sounds awful and like nothing I listen to. And as usual South Park is ridiculous and off the mark if they think all Christian music is like that.

THIS is real Christian music:

You don't have to like his music and you definitely don't have to buy these shoes (I myself wouldn't pay 100$ for sneakers, let alone 1000$). But Noem is clearly not expressing an opinion of personal taste- "We are in a fight for the soul of our nation. We need to fight hard. And we need to fight smart. We have to win". It's a war for them- and one of the targets is the exercise of the freedom from religion. They want to stamp out any and all expressions of this freedom.

And let me tell you, if you don't fight for the freedom from religion as hard as you fight for the freedom of religion, then you can throw the whole thing in the trash and burn it. It's worthless.

Also this guy had a much better reply than Noem, that's for sure:

Man.... you made a whole thread and wrote 14 comments in it WITHOUT seeing the video. And you excuse this by "I'll hate the music anyway"? This is some childish behavior.

Because the thread is about the shoes, not his video.

Classic evangelicalism.
“I hate X”
“Have you any idea what X even is”
“No and I don’t want to”

I know that he's a musician with "Lil" in his name. I have never heard such a musician I actually like, because that indicates rap, and as I've well established I do not like rap music. Now if like Machine Gun Kelly he releases an album in a genre I actually do like then maybe I'll listen to it.

Wow, another thread devoted to BRTD’s hatred for black musicians?
Are you at all familiar with the band who did the "My King is alive!" song?

Brtd is officially forbidden from ever listen to Emo music other than from Christian bands ever again.
Lots of the greatest non-Christian emo bands of all time had Christian members. Like Chris from Mineral, Jeremy from Sunny Day Real Estate, etc. Even if they weren't explicitly Christian the members were still acting through Christ and glorifying Christ with the sheer amazing music they created. Also a lot of members of my church's band play in non-Christian bands as their main bands. However this is not the case if the music is against Christ (like black metal.)

Uh, how are they making hardcore music worse? Like lots of Christian hardcore bands have actually been some of the most innovative and influential, like Zao, Strongarm, No Innocent Victim, Stretch Arm Strong, mewithoutYou, Hopesfall and Underoath. Like those are even respected and listened by non-Christians.

No cop outs, Zach. Per your own interpretation of the biblical passage you quoted, if it's not all Christian all the time, you can't listen to it without being a hypocrite

This is not just not "all Christian all the time". It's explicitly anti-Christian. That's the huge difference.

Hank Williams III often uses satanic imagery. He calls his fans "hellbillies" and "hellbetties" (his greatest album is called "Straight to Hell.") Since I'm not a Christian or Muslim and therefore don't really believe in hell or Satan, it doesn't offend me, but I'm pretty sure the point isn't to worship evil beings. It's to be contrarian against the forces in society that use the Christian bible and Quran and other religious imagery to pass judgement upon people for being LGBT, addicts, mentally ill, from broken homes, etc. So basically the left behind.
Dude, did you hear this song I posted earlier? Do you seriously think these guys pass judgement?
