Great thread question! Can't believe I missed it.

Those are some beautiful church buildings.

So what is the demographic of the people who are members or attend? Are they mostly from other parts of the country (the south)? Are they several-generation New Yorkers? Are they mainly white, or are the congregations diverse? That's what I don't know about evangelicals in NY.

It varies church by church no doubt but "relatively diverse because it's NYC but heavily white" is kind of the standard. I know some liberal celebrities attend Hillsong NYC. I imagine there's not many from the south because southern transplants to Manhattan are kind of rare and the few that are are probably originally urban and well educated, you don't see many rural working class southerners relocating there.

One also must consider the type of southerner that leaves for a place like NYC in the first place.
And of course even has the means to. Joe Redneck in some working class job probably doesn't have the funds to establish themselves in Manhattan of all places.

Bottom line is this is definitely a different demographic than rural white evangelicals.
