Put a minus sign in front of that temperature...and it's STILL warmer than the windchill temperature outside right now.

It was at least $599. That's the minimum for 18 month financing from Best Buy.

Nice sleuthing BRTD. I dont see why you would need an expensive computer. You dont strike me as a gamer, what do you do. Post here and look at porn?

No sleuthing really, I used to work for Best Buy Corporate. But yeah, as soon as he said 18 months I knew he spent a lot more than he needed, as usual. His excuse will probably be as you said, to run some high end CADD program that he'll never run anyway.

www.creditkarma.com

It's not a "true" credit score but it gives you a decent enough ballpark figure.

There's a reason I linked to that site which is free and doesn't require a credit card.

However it's worth noting that if Bushie didn't have the Tulsa apartment or uber-cable package right now, he could probably easily save up enough money from this job for a new car. It's somewhat morally dubious granted to have your parents pay your bills and grandmother board you for free so you can buy a new car, but still far less so than doing so so you can drive an hour and a half one way each weekend to watch some community college football games.

Actually let's do the math. Bushie says this job pays $15/hour, but we know he's not working a full week with all the unpaid time off he's taking. But even if it ends up more like $12/hour, that means he's getting about $370/month after taxes on a rough estimate. If the job runs for about 20 weeks, as he's implied, that equals $7400. But of course Bushie has to flush probably about half that money down the drain all for fourth-tier college football games and some church picnic once a month or so.

I'll also point out that if Bushie worked a minimum wage job for 20 hours a week all those times he didn't work at all and kept coming up with excuses as to why or claiming he wouldn't because he was looking for a better job, he'd probably have enough saved for a new car by now.

Dare I ask how much your computer was?  Did you at least get no interest?

18 months no interest.  I'm not going to say the actual amount.

Oh you dont have to tell me, you got the deluxe model with all the bells and whistles because you have to run all dem high powered CADD programs, that you don't use anyway.

It wasn't the top of the line.  I didn't put THAT much on my card.  It should only take me 6-7 months to pay off.

How does one in your financial situation get credit to begin with?

why wouldnt a store give someone like bushie a card with a 20%+ apr?

The Best Buy card has 0% APR if you pay it off in the time frame. It's actually a pretty good deal, even though my opinion of Best Buy in general is...well low (I won't elaborate, I'll just say my experience with them I mentioned earlier in the thread was not all that good.)

Despite that I did buy my current computer at Best Buy through the same plan, though mine was far cheaper and on 6-month financing. Yeah, Bushie no doubt got smooth talked into upgrading the components on his.

I'll also point out that desktop computers are kind of like landline phones, they have their uses and aren't going obsolete ever, but your average person really doesn't need one. The biggest advantage they have is customizability, since with laptops you're kind of stuck with the setup you buy it with. And for businesses and places like college computer labs where the computers won't be moving much, they're obviously the more logical choice. But unless you're a huge PC gamer who'll be updating their graphics and sound cards frequently, some type of software designer or engineer who needs to keep using high end software, or some tech geek who likes building their own computers and customizing Linux setups, that advantage isn't much. And it's not like Bushie's CADD software is like some high end graphic design suite, it can probably run easily on a $400 laptop, (not that it matters since Bushie doesn't use it anyway...) like many things Bushie simply made the least logical decision for no real reason.

What did Bushie work as in Kenya?

How many jobs has he had?

The only thing he said he did in Kenya was "loving on kids". And I doubt anyone including Bushie hasn't lost count of how many jobs he has had.

His longest job was the Oklahoma Natural Gas one that he had for at least two years but it was quitting that for an obvious scam that kicked off Update.

Bushie, you're confusing "adequate paycheck" with "fat paycheck". $900-$1000 might sound pretty nice and is a lot higher than you've ever received before, but that's at best around the median income of most Americans. I recently got a paycheck with over $600 in bonuses on it, I'm fine calling that a fat paycheck but clearly I don't get that every two weeks.

Plus with what you're working (which I'll point out is not simply your hourly pay times 40 times 52), you're not even pulling $30k/year even if the job lasted a whole year. Enough money to live on for a single male with no dependents in a low cost of living area? Sure. But you also have tons of debts, bills (including some unnecessary ones), and you've admitted that even with what you're getting now you're only paying 90% of them. And as King noted, if you were really pulling in an upper middle class type job you could've easily paid off the computer by now.

Now I'm not saying you need to get a $50k/year job immediately or anything like that, but a decently adequate paying job for 5 months is not the same thing as being set for life, as you seem to think. If the job was a permanent gig you could probably justify it a bit in that your debts would eventually drop and you could soon be paying 100% of it on your own, but that's not the case.

So now Bushie heads back to the Tulsa apartment and deluxe cable package full time while his parents pay all the bills. And I vet he renews the lease too. And ignores everything King pointed out. Sigh.

What's sad is Bushie writing that off as a scam and then heading out to another MLM scam as his next job is completely plausible.

So counting today Bushie has 24 hours remaining in this job. How many do you want to bet he actually works?

I find it fairly amusing that Bushie uses the excuse that he's under qualified to apply for that job, but had no problem potentially pissing away $200 on a certification exam for a job he wasn't anywhere near remotely qualified for and would've obviously crashed and burned if he somehow got it a couple weeks ago.

And even if the moving cost is $1000, that's still cheaper than at most 2 months of keeping the apartment. Hell when you factor in the mega-cable package and gas spent constantly traveling there even with the lower prices (plus the dining Bushie no doubt engages in during his Tulsa trips), he's probably spending at least 80% of that in one month. Furthermore that's a bit of an odd excuse to come up so late, seeing as how the only reason Bushie ended up in Tulsa in the first place was taking a dubious job offer that he didn't last long at, and Bushie has done crazier moves in the past, such as the whole Utah adventure back when he actually even owned a house. Why wasn't the furniture moving cost an issue then?
