The works of both are basically completely worthless, but at least Meyer probably doesn't have much of an ego and doesn't seriously think having a character go on an 80 page speech is a good writing tactic.

An equally difficult question is who has the more annoying fanbase.

Am I the only liberal on here who has a soft spot for Ayn Rand?

What on Earth could possibly make you like that awful wretch? Even sane libertarians aren't fond of her, which makes sense since she was a quite awful person personally regardless of what you think of her politics, she was actually quite megalomanical with how she viewed people, and what she actually promotes in Atlas Shrugged is basically a strawman that liberals and communitarians like to use as a criticism of libertarianism and that sane libertarians distance themselves from.

And as someone else pointed out once on this forum, her message in The Fountainhead is basically "do whatever you feel like doing, regardless of market demand, because it is immoral to force people to do things for others in order to make money, oh and if someone pays you for something you make and changes it in a way you don't like that is an attack on you as the maker of that thing and you have the right to destroy it"
