Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Yes, you are correct, BRTD, Ottawa is a semi-suburban county in a heavily conservative area, with a large Dutch population. Also lots of wealthy people there too. Grand Rapids is quite a conservative city overall, Gore barely won the city proper and the suburbs are very Republican. Lots of wealthy people, lots of churchgoers, and the Dutch in general tend to be conservative to begin with. Also metro Grand Rapids doesn't have that many racial minorities compared to most cities.
