I still have no idea who Britney Spears is or why she is famous, and at this point I don't care to ask.

Are you Kuwaiti? Because it sounds like you’ve been living under Iraq.

I guess she's a """musician""" but I've never heard any of her songs. I get her confused with Paris Hilton for some reason.

Britney Spears is one of the biggest pop stars from the early 2000s. Paris Hilton was a famous heiress in the same era.

What they're doing to her seems barbaric. But I also wonder what they've done to equip her with the ability to manage a vast fortune and not get victimized by leeches, since that's one of the problems she had in the past. It seems they have not only controlled her life in insane ways but left her ill-equipped to fend for herself against people who will certainly target her.

This is the big issue for me. Has she shown the ability to manage herself and her affairs? I mean, is she really capable of it? Why not put the bulk of her money in a safe place and give her free reign with a big chunk of it to do as she pleases? Until she has proven she is capable of managing her money on her own.

Why does she need to prove she can manage money on her own lol. It’s her money and she should be able to do what she wants with it

You have a point, up to a point. I maintain that she has already gotten herself into a lot of trouble, which evidently involved many players other than just her. Why should she be able to cause more chaos? If she needs intervention then give it to her so she can get healthy once and for all. Doesn't appear that she can manage her life very well the way she is now.

She should have the right to try if that's what she wants. And regardless who controls the money, why should anybody be able to tell her when her boyfriend can come over or what color her cabinets should be?

Pop and country are both fundamentally bad because each has close to 90% of songs in radio rotation written by the same 20 or so professional songwriters from LA and Nashville respectively. Country may have a slight Edge in regard to artist actually penning their own Tunes, but not by much.

I've never understood this argument. Do you want actors to write their own scripts? Being a good song writer doesn't mean you're a good singer and/or performer, and vice versa.

Britney wrote her best song FWIW.

Jamie Spears suspended as conservator of Britney Spears

Quote
Britney Spears scored a legal victory Wednesday in her fight to regain control of her life.

A Los Angeles judge has suspended Jamie Spears, the singer's father, as conservator of her estate and designated a temporary replacement selected by the singer and her attorney to oversee her finances.

Mathew Rosengart, attorney for Britney Spears, described the elder Spears as a "cruel, toxic and abusive man," adding his client wants him out "today."

Britney Spears' conservatorship ends

Quote
Britney Spears' 13-year conservatorship is over.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny terminated the court-ordered arrangement during a hearing on Friday.

Addressing the court, Spears' attorney Matthew Rosengart said a "safety net" is in place for the singer's finances and personal care.

"The time has come today to end the conservatorship," Rosengart said, thanking the judge,

Assets will now be transferred from the temporary conservator of Spears' estate to the singer's trust, Judge Penny said.
