Is it certain that the Democrats have to votes in the House? With the vacancies, there's not that much room for error.

Hopefully this lands on Biden's desk for a big signing ceremony this month.

Not certain but Hoyer did say he's confident it will pass the House if it passes the Senate.

The ask for drought resilience funds makes sense. Her objection to closing the carried interest loophole doesn't make sense, and she's never explained her objection either.

Democratic senators vow to vote ‘no’ on all amendments to party’s climate, tax, health bill

Quote
Several Democratic senators are saying they will vote “no” on any amendments introduced during a Senate vote-a-rama session in an effort to keep the party’s major climate, tax and health bill on course to pass.

“We have a deal to take the biggest climate action in U.S. history. Every Senate Dem has agreed to it. I can think of lots of ways to strengthen it, but I won’t derail this bill by supporting changes. I will vote NO on all amendments – even for stuff I like. Let’s finish the job,” Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) tweeted.

“I agree with Brian. I’ll be voting NO on all amendments — regardless of policy,” Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) said, quote-tweeting Schatz. “Let’s stay united and get this historic bill done.”

Amendments that pass (with Republican help) could endanger final passage. Some progressive Dems are still expected to put forth amendments.

Dems are apparently making other changes to the bill (I don't know what) which is drawing out the vote-a-rama.

The pay for for the Thune amendment is extending provisions in place since 2017 to how corporations can write off their losses.

So I’m confused - did the amendment Thune put in stay? Or was it overriden? What does it do? How does it impact the quality of the bill? (If this bill is a 7.5 on a scale 1-10 then what is it now)

Stayed in but was amended later to changed how it's paid for. I think nixes the corporate minimum tax for small business. Paid for by extending a 2017 provision on how corporations write off losses.

So the House will vote on it tomorrow, right?

Yes the vote is planned for tomorrow and it's expected to pass.

I don't think House members who weren't a part of negotiating this with Manchin have any obligation to hold up his deal. I assume Manchin did not feel any obligation to hold up the House deal on BBB because, well, he didn't. If Schumer can get it through the Senate and the House blocks it, well that's life. But it will probably pass.

One editor's tweet does not make a trend.
