I feel like we need a new rule against electing politicians who are - for lack of a better way of phrasing it - just openly a**holes. It never ends well.

I agree with the sentiment but I don't see any way to implement that isn't undemocratic. People will disagree on what it means to be mean, and even on who is mean based on whatever standard they choose.

Another day, another allegation. This time straight-up sexual assault.

How does she know there are more? Or she's just assuming?

Considering there’s 7 now it’s not unreasonable to assume that there’s more

I guess, but I don't think she should announce there are more if she doesn't know anything.

This is ridiculous. Schumer, AOC, and Gillibrand, as well as other high profile NY Dems need to call for his resignation, or start the impeachment process.

Gillibrand called for Al Franken's head over one questionable incident yet has said virtually nothing here. She's as fake as they come.

Pretty sure there were like 5 or 6 accusers when she called for Franken to resign.

I’ve been thinking about this and I think his scandal is kind of the best example of people who follow politics closest as a hobby and those who follow it for “entertainment”.

Is there a difference? 🤔

I don't think the testing thing is a big deal if it's for people he had regular contact with. If it's not, then yeah.

Yeah I think he's in the clear until the investigation is done at least.

Tbh, I have grown even more pessimistic Cuomo will be successfully removed from office. Someone with appeal beyond the progressive wing needs to primary him out. He's a blue Trump.

This is what has worked for several politicians in both parties now. Just refuse to resign and move on, and eventually it's old news.

I don't think it was unethical for early testing for people he was in contact with. He's the governor. He has to stay alive.

I don't think it's fair to put blame on his brother for this.

His explanation is perfectly sensible.

Sounds like they found a lot of inappropriate touching too. And he retaliated against at least one of his accusers.

In less seriousness, the Yankees win World Series titles whenever there is a Democratic president and no Cuomo is in office for some reason (1983-1995), (2011-2023?); even if the 1994 Yankees (under Clinton/Cuomo (before losing to Pataki)/Giuliani) went to the World Series and lost to the Montreal Expos, (giving Canada a 3-peat baseball titles in general)

2022 or 2023 may see a Yankees WS victory....

Sounds like that rule where you can predict the outcome of the Presidential election based on how the Washington Football Team does in their last home game before the election. Held for 68 years and then failed.

Could you imagine what would happen if we replaced Biden with this guy?

Assuming he had won and then all this stuff came out, I think we'd be looking at President #47 within a couple months.

Furthermore it's beyond disappointing Chris drafting statements for his brother. I actually liked him at CNN for while, but I'm truly embarrassed to ever have spoken in favor of either. Andrew is a scumbag with the same mafia boss attitude than Trump.

That's a pretty harsh statement for drafting statements to help out his brother, prior to this report coming out.

This is different from whether he should be fired. But he's not even in the same ballpark as Trump.

If in some third world country a report came out about a powerful politician being secretly advised by his journalist brother, who was still reporting on him on an influential network, most people here would likely consider that laughably corrupt.

If that's the only source of news maybe. Cuomo is one hour on one channel. Also I misread what I was quoting unfortunately, it says Andrew I thought it said Chris. I just don't think it reflects on him as a personal failing, even if it's justification for termination.

I do not see why Cuomo should go.  If he is really guilty of these allegations let it be proved in a court of law.  If he is found guilty then sure he should go.  All we have so far is a report by an AG who herself want to run for governor and would politically benefit from Cuomo leaving office.

What part(s) of the report, specifically, do you believe are not accurate?

Nothing in particular.  I am very open to most if not all of it is true.  But right now it is still an allegation.  There has to be due process to prove these allegation in an open and transparent way.  Surely we cannot take the position that someone guilty because the prosecution says so.

He definitely should not be fined or imprisoned before that happens, if it does, but that's the extent to which he's afforded due process. For purposes of impeachment and/or public shaming, we're allowed to take the word of the investigators.

CNN has been very quiet about this.  This has been the headline story on Fox all day.  🤔

It was definitely a big story there yesterday.

I read somewhere this is going to take months to get to a vote. I still think they need to find a provable crime somewhere, or a coverup with Cuomo's fingerprints all over it of the nursing home scandal.

Oh here is one squib speculating on the time line.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/cuomo-impeachment-process-could-take-months-legislators-warn-n1275943

Touching breasts without consent is a crime. It's provable by believing the victim.

He addressed the trooper's allegation. Says he doesn't remember touching her back and stomach but if she says it happened he believes her. Says it was thoughtless and insensitive and apologizes. Said he often pats troopers on the back or shoulders as he walks by as a way of showing he appreciates them. He's talking about a lot of other stuff but I thought that was significant since it's the first time he's addressed it.

I wonder if impeachment will proceed in the next 2 weeks. After all, Larry Craig said he was going to resign, and then just didn't.

Not a great line

Could be used out of context, but it's important to note Biden asked for clarification if the question was about Cuomo's personal life or the job he did as governor, and the reporter replied the latter.

He's still governor for 2 weeks? Probably hoping people forget about this and he can unresign.

I said it earlier, but the 2 week window does make me wonder. Larry Craig said he was going to resign and then just changed his mind and got away with it. They need to keep pressing impeachment until he's gone.

I always at certain level liked Cuomo and I am sad to see him go.  It seems to me that if he were to go it should be over the nursery home coverup and not this bunch of unproven one-sided accusations which I agree could be true but is not proven to be true.  I guess in the end he just made too many enemies that when he needed friends to help him he had none he could count on.

Any one allegation is unprovable, but when there are this many I think we know what kind of a guy he is.
