There's like a lot to justify it...

I recognize that BK made an error in judgment, and de-modding her would be reasonable, but like you said, she is a pillar of this community, and I don't support banning her for something that she regretted, apologized for publicly, and was largely the fault of whoever modcaveleaks is.

I recognize that BK made an error in judgment, and de-modding her would be reasonable, but like you said, she is a pillar of this community, and I don't support banning her for something that she regretted, apologized for publicly, and was largely the fault of whoever modcaveleaks is.

If you are going to ban people on a forum then you have to for this; it is just about the highest offense possible, and even if a mistake, there has to be repercussions.

The primary purpose of repercussions in this case should be to ensure that the behavior does not continue, and BK's error in judgment means that a removal from being a moderator would prevent this sort of incident from happening again (not that I think it will happen). The problem itself lies with how the privileges of being a moderator were abused, not the privileges of being a poster. And, the largest violations of the TOS that are the main concern here were done by the modcaveleaks poster, not Bacon King.
