Chirac:

- stopped nuclear testing and development
- championed the Euro, a foreign currency
- gave control of the most important economic forces to a foreign body
- supports gay marriage
- supports abortion
- supports strict gun control

-We don't need to test our nuclear weapons anymore. And the foreigners, including the U.S., continually condemned us for it while we did it.
We're not discussing the merits.  This course of action is a liberal indicator.  By itself not enough to make him a liberal, but it all adds up.

Once again, we're not discussing the merits.  A conservative would never outsource his currency to a foreigner.  And by the way, the weak dollar is an excellent thing for the United States.

And once again, we're not discussing the merits, but rather the course of action that is a LIBERAL course of action.

He does.  He said laws need to be changed.

I can speak English better than you! Yes, keep telling yourself the WMD's are somewhere. The U.S. government ended the search! They have basically admitted they were not there. So what if you are from Connecticut? You are still a stupid Texas redneck. Don't you have a rodeo to go to? Or maybe a hoedown? Get in any bar fights lately?
People from Connecticut are typically yankees, and those from the South are rednecks.  You're very ignorant.

I believe he is.  In fact, he wants a global tax on guns.

But you choose to live in Texas. That is like saying that if you are a member of the Commnuist Party, but were born into a Republican family, that you are not a Communist.
He lives in Texas?

you're insane !!! naturally he support gun-control...
Gun-control as far as the U.S. is concerned, not France. To my knowledge he hasn't gotten any laws passed against guns.
That is because there is already a lot of gun control in France.  If he tried to dismantle those laws you can make a claim he is against gun control, but his government actually considered tightening the laws even more following the attempt on his life.

Clearly, all of these together indicates he is NOT a conservative.

Yes and no we have no bar fights or rednecks here

There are no rednecks in Texas? That's not true, George Bush is from there.
Actually, George W. Bush is from Connecticut, not Texas.  He also went to Yale and Harvard, liberal bastions of education.

The French is hardly a race.  That is sheer arrogance.

Lets get back on topic.  Julien, if you consider Chirac a conservative, how about highlighting actions he has taken that we can deem conservative?

American Conservatives hate Chirac because he is a patriot.
No, he is a socialist.  I don't hate patriotic Canadians.  I don't hate patriotic Americans.  I don't hate patriotic French, or English, or whatever.
