Appropriate with the start to football season just over a week away.

Where would you rather live?

Illinois is the answer.

Wisconsin.  Chicago's great, but Wisconsin is easily better than non-Chicago Illinois.

There's little difference between rural Wisconsin and rural Illinois

I like trees, a cooler climate, and the more liberal culture of the North.

The forest-y part of Wisconsin doesn't start until you get north of Green Bay (lots of farmland in Central WI), by which you could compare how forest-y Illinois is south of Springfield.

Northern Wisconsin and Southern Illinois have shown similar voting trends - formerly Democrat, now voting pretty solidly Republican.

Madison would probably be my first choice as a place to live if I stayed in the Midwest.  Also, I would be more used to northern Wisconsin's culture than southern Illinois's.

I suppose, but we wouldn't go calling South Dakota's culture liberal, now would we?
