Shameful, but not like Manchin or Sinema would have signed onto it.

Damn. Biden really is making this a party I can be proud of.

He won't be able to change it overnight, but he's definitely changing it.

Warner should have been aggressively primaried last year. The warning signs were there but he's pretty much at Feinstein 2018 levels of "more harmful long-term than an actual Republican".

But guys you don’t get it we need to vote blue no matter who even if they block every bit of progress just like an R would

Um, in general elections, Yes. Had she lost to McSally, Biden would have accomplished absolutely nothing outside of executive orders.

It's likely that Sinema goes down in the primary in 2024, but if she survives somehow, you've got to still prefer her over Kelli Ward or whoever the Arizona GOP nominates. Her Republican replacement would be orders of magnitude worse.

I respectfully disagree. If I wanted to vote for someone who would obstruct the Democratic agenda, I would vote for a Republican.

Your vote is the most powerful tool you have to control a politician. With all of us together, Democrats can start acting like Democrats again.

Maybe this is discussed above, but here is a good summary of the state of play on reconciliation and infrastructure. The two bills have been effectively decoupled it seems to me. Pelosi was forced to fold. The Dem moderates held firm.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/meet-the-press/house-moderates-provide-even-more-leverage-joe-manchin-reconciliation-n1277592

Most moderate Democrats supported the two track strategy.  This nine nitwits aren’t moderates, they’re a handful of ***holes who are trolling for attention by adopting some position - anything, it doesn’t really matter what b/c these folks have no real ideology - to the right of the Democratic leadership.

Calling them moderates is like saying Allen West or Larry Elder represent the average AA voter’s political views.  That’s not hyperbole; the “mods vs. Pelosi” framing really is that inaccurate.  Folks like Sinema, Gottheimer, Schrader, and apparently Manchin are basically just Lieberman-esque trolls whose schtick is arbitrarily opposing whatever most Democrats support just for the sake of doing so.

What’s new about this recurring problem is that this time - unlike Obama, Schumer, Reid, Pelosi, etc who generally did what they could - Biden has been proactively enabling these trolls - whether it’s b/c he’s doing everything he can behind the scenes to help them or he’s just a hopeless incompetent who is in over his head, I can’t say - to the point that in his way he’s almost as complicit as the trolls are.

Welcome aboard, my friend.

"Progressives" are stupid like that.

They would rather have no cake than 62.77% of the cake.

We get it. You're a Republican.

Hey guys?

Remember how I got pissed at them snubbing AOC for Rice? And how it shouldn't have happened because she was disloyal? And how that spot would keep her in line?

Yeeeeah.

That's that then:

Remember their names:

Quote
Democratic Reps. Scott Peters of California, Kathleen Rice of New York and Kurt Schrader of Oregon each opposed the strategy, saying it discourages the development of new drugs.

Shoutouts to the Democratic Caucus for making this all possible

Detestable. Considering Cuellar's part in whipping votes for Rice, I truly hope Cisneros him down.

Don't worry, silly! Dissension and disunity is only bad when it's coming from the left. Right-wing dissension is completely fine.

Go get those bipartisan credentials and Pfizerbux, queen!

Crickets from the Moderation & Unity! crowd, I noticed.

Of course, my friend. The Democratic Party is more interested in furthering their own prospects and lining their own pockets than getting things done.

I think that Sinema is either quite stupid or genuinely believes this schitck will help her. I don't know which is worse.

Well she does believe this schtick will help her.

Just not in the electoral way.

The "progressive" fools who are blocking the infrastructure bill are going to end up sinking the party in the midterm if they don't fold.

Boo hoo. It's either us or no bill.

But of course, we're playing by the rules of Republicrats like you, so hostage-taking is fine when you do it.

Sinema should be expelled from the caucus if we lose. She's no different from Paul Ryan - use the ladder to get rich and pull the ladder up once she gets to the top.

Why is everyone assuming that there is a mass capitulation going on? If Jamaal Bowman is agreeing to the BIF, there's clearly stuff going on behind the scenes. Don't count your bills before they pass.

Straight from the horse's mouth himself:

Still sounds very up-in-the-air.

I'm going to trust the official word of one of the representatives who slated to vote for the bill over the second-hand testimony from some random MAGAcrat's spin on it.

From the context of the article it sounds like the framework they seek is a public commitment from the moderates towards a number. As far as I see I trust Khanna and Bowman.

This is why we don't count our chickens

Indeed, which is why you probably shouldn't be taking a victory lap now, because the most likely outcomes are still that the BIF passes on its own or nothing passes. It's a real demonstration of the Horseshoe Theory when the left is perfectly happy to act as a mirror image of the hated Freedom Caucus, make perfect an enemy of the good, and derail their party's agenda as a result.

Horseshoe theory isn't real. Fishhook theory, the idea that centrists will ally with the right to defend corporate interests at the expense of everything else, is.

Case in point:

You have this completely backwards.

Moderates are the ones threatening to detail the agenda.

So said the Freedom Caucus who were sure that they were going to repeal Obamacare and that those RINOs wanted to keep parts of it around and were derailing their agenda. If they weren't so rigid on that the Republicans may have actually come up with a replacement that could have passed Congress, like they came up with a tax bill, and some laws that even got Democratic votes like the Dodd-Frank rollback and the First Step Act.
One thing the "moderates" and the Freedom Caucus have in common is the absolute revulsion for expanding healthcare.

But hey man, at least we get this completely worthless bipartisan POS bill.

Don't mind compucomp. He would rather have a Republican trifecta than a progressive majority.
