Not exactly a profile in courage to be a closeted Democrat who votes against gay rights in New England.
He DISGUSTS me. What a spineless piece of crap. While the numerous closeted Republicans are also horrible, at least they're beholden to the party of bigotry and ignorance and are probably delusional enough to believe their own lies. I find this behavior even more shocking from a northeastern Democrat. I don't know care what his district is like, it's not like it's Alabama or anything. I don't know how he could live with himself all this time.

I support him for governor to get him the hell out of Congress.

He's from the most socon district in New England. His constituents would have probably voted him out in a year like 2010 if he came out then. They voted against gay marriage twice (once over 60%) and continues to trend GOP.

Once again, if you're going to straight-shoot, please have some idea of what you're talking about.

I said I don't care. He should have moved if holding political office was his only concern in life.

Yes, let's encourage someone to leave his entire family and the generation just to carpetbag somewhere else. You know, because every Northeastern politician should be like Ted Kennedy, right?

Oh yeah, if you want to be taken seriously as a leftist here, don't endorse someone who ran on a pro-war, anti-gay marriage platform, sponsored anti-labor legislation, tried to primary the most famous voice for leftist causes in Hawaii's history for being too progressive, and decided not to fight for gay marriage but magically decided to "evolve" about a month after Daniel Inouye died. You know, someone who's actually being cowardly about supporting gay rights.

Because a 61% anti-gay district in 2009 and a 55% anti-gay marriage district last year is going to elect a gay man to Congress... Roll Eyes

Sanch makes a great point about the true leftist brigade getting tiring.

He wasn't forced to live in that district, and he shouldn't have wanted to represent a district of bigots anyway. Coward.

Or he could have represented his home, his father's home, and his grandfather's home that he was born and raised in.

Not repeating myself. Take a trip up to inner Maine and see for yourself what it's like. I'm done wasting my breath on people who are sticking their fingers in their ears and singing.

So he lied about who he was to get reelected. How is that any different than say Larry Craig or Mark Stevens (I think thats his name.)
He's a Democrat.
That should not mean anything. Remember how hard Craig was railroaded over a disputed accusation? Or how about a pro gay newspaper accusing Mayor West of pedophilia with zero evidence? Local Dems clung to that like it was their only lifeline. yet shockingly the FBI dismissed the case. Did the editor of the Spokesman review apologize or get charged with libel? Of course not they got off just fine. Its hypocritical that all that can happen, but when a Democrat does it it's hallelujah lets all jump on the wagon!

I've been on the wagon. In fact, I'm pretty sure I said I supported Michaud because he's the only way this stays out of LePage's hands.

There's also the fact that what Craig did was criminal, so you can't really compare him and Michaud. When you're a representative, you represent everyone, not your own views. The district's views, surprisingly enough, aren't consistent with the rest of New England. I've actually been to these parts of Maine. My friend has family up there too. I'm not going off some armchair research here. This is all my personal experience, and if you think that these parts are as liberal as Portland or Bangor, you have absolutely no idea about how Maine is.

So for Christ's sake, leave the man alone for trying to represent his constituents. You can holler all you want about how he's some DINO, but don't blame me when the bumbling fool in Augusta gets reelected.

You don't get it. It's not about being ideologically pure (although at this point any anti-gay Democrat needs to get with the program). I didn't care that he was a "DINO" before. It's about hypocrisy and being publicly against gay rights when he was a gay man himself. That says a lot about Mike Michaud the person to me.

Luckily I don't live in Maine so this won't affect me, but I'm certainly not going to celebrate him.
Funny talk for someone who spent the last page pissing and moaning about how Northeastern Democrats should be pro-gay regardless of their districts. You were being ignorant, and you got called out for assuming that every district here's in the Northeast is a haven for social liberalism. Don't blame me because I proved you wrong.

Coming from someone who's taking a WND report seriously, I'll take that as a compliment.

It's fine. She and the rest of the anti-Michaud brigade's jumped the shark at this point.

My work here is done.

No. We don't. It's not a source that's biased, it's one that peddles conspiracy theories.

Well, looks like I was wrong. I'll own it, because I'mm fine. Since you decided to copypaste a broken link from the article, I decided to look it up myself.

You were right. Michaud supported it. However, I find it a little funny that you and Becca trumpeted how Amash and Paul supported it, but never mentioned that the resolution was also backed by famous right-wing Democrats Dennis Kucinich and Raul Grijalva (despite the latter withdrawing his sponsorship). Shame on them! They might as well switch to the Republican Party!

Michaud's always been anti-war, no matter who was in office. So much for the coward thing y'all had going.

Willips clearly questioned how much of a Democrat he was, you f(inks)ing egotistical dolt. I know you're the type who thinks that everything everyone says is about them, but unfortunately, I'm finding myself wondering why I still bother with a know-it-all with an overinflated ego like you.

I don't know care what his district is like, it's not like it's Alabama or anything. I don't know how he could live with himself all this time.

Sounds like you were pretty concerned about purity before. You don't seem to care that a rural Catholic district that rejected gay marriage by over 20% would be fine with a gay man back then, and you don't seem to care that it rejected it again by 10%. You instead decided to stick your fingers in your ears and throw a tantrum like a child when your little stereotype didn't fit the mold. I also called out you guys for relying on an article to give you your information instead of looking up the source myself, and when I did my research, I found that the anti-war wing supported the impeachment measure, not the moderate wing. You don't have to dickride Obama to be a good Democrat, you just have to be consistent with the party's principles... which lo and behold he seems to be doing as foreign policy goes!

I'll be awaiting Willips's response, at least it'll be more civilized and overall much smarter than anything you've come up with. Don't blame me because I proved you wrong.

I'm sure that it's not impossible to discuss this in a mildly calmer manner, hmm...?

She gets what she gives me, which happens to be a giant ball of rage.

*insert needless and uncalled for kitchen troll joke to anger Becca here*

Why use kitchen jokes when you can just prove her wrong? I'd imagine my way's much better for rustling her jimmies.
