Lincoln Endorsements

Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D-MI)
"America is ready for a woman as President, and Blanche Lincoln is the woman to support in the Michigan Democratic primary." - to the Ann Arbor paper & Detroit Free Press

I've had Granholm for several turns... If she switched candidates let me know, because I'd want an extra endorsement.

Memorial Field, University of Dartmouth, Hanover, New Hampshire January 9, 2008

I've heard there are recounts ongoing about just who won this great state. But no matter where we finish here, we can claim victory, as we won delegates, won almost twenty-seven percent of the vote, and proved we are in excellent shape moving forward. New Hampshire, if all goes according to plan we will see you for the General Election!

Senator Clinton's campaign expresses its congratulations to Governor Dean on his campaign's narrow victory in New Hampshire. However, we feel that our results allow us to remain in business at least through the Florida Primary on January 29, and look forward to meeting all of our opposition along the way.

Hillary 2008; Schedule for Hillary Clinton

January 9, 2008

Speech/Rally at the Superior Dome, Marquette, Michigan (With Chuck Schumer and James Blanchard)

I know people think we're out of it, but we improved six points and two positions between Iowa and New Hampshire, we've picked up fifteen delegates along the way, and we're already second here in Michigan. There is no reason to believe that we won't walk away the winner here in the Wolverine State!

GOTV in Ishpeming, Michigan

Tour National Ski Hall of Fame and Museum, Ishpeming, Michigan (With Jeanne Shaheen, Dick Gardner, John La Falce, and Robert Baines)

January 10, 2008

GOTV in Escanaba, Michigan

GOTV in Gladstone, Michigan

Speech/Rally at Center Ice Arena, Traverse City, Michigan (With John Melcher, Mitch Landrieu and Tim Kaine)

Senator Bayh may live next door, but he's not the Democrat Michigan should be looking out. He talks free trade, not as a way to open markets to the world, but just as a means in and of themselves. We already have NAFTA, CAFTA and several agreements with individual countries, so why would we need another Free Trade agreement with these countries, as some have proposed? In addition, these Free Trade agreements have devastated Detroit's auto industry, the Steel Industry in Southeast Ohio, and even the Gambling Industry in Atlantic City is dying thanks to this free trade.

December 10, 2008 Ford Field ,Detroit, Michigan 1:20 AM

Before we begin, we must say goodbye to Governor Dean, who won both Iowa and New Hampshire and was a worthy adversary on the campaign trail, and we hope he will feel better soon. Obviously, Senator Bayh won here in Michigan. But we finished second again, and we're not going anywhere just yet. Finally we bid farewell to Governor Sanford, who asked questions that many Republicans want to ask, but couldn't quite seal the deal. Of course, that means, President Giuliani is once again the Republican nominee, and I'm sure all three of us are raring to taking him on in November. As for me, the next stops are Nevada and South Carolina, and I'm looking forward to both.

OOC; Since we (Democrats) are now three, I think the endorsement limit should be raised from a maximum five to seven (and then ten, at the head-to-head stage). Of course, all endorsements would remain NHI's discretion.

Meet Voters in Bullhead City, Arizona

Speech/Rally at the Edgewater Hotel and Casino, Laughlin, Nevada (With Harry Reid and Gary Peters)

Back in 2006, Republicans passed something called the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act passed through Congress, and was signed by President Giuliani. Now, I know what all of you are thinking... Hillary voted aye! But look at how the Republican leadership packaged the bill, hiding it in a port security measure. Many Senators, Hillary included were not given the opportunity to read the bill, thanks to the rushing of the vote, and the hiding of the extras, and I'm not sure President Giuliani read the whole bill before lending his signature to this measure, which is unnecessary and unhelpful, when taxing and regulating these sites would make much more sense.

Bryan endorsed Sen. Bayh a long time ago.

No one told me this when I asked for his endorsement, before the New Hampshire primary... You really should have mentioned it then.

This race isn't over yet, as we're still picking up delegates, and will do so even if the imminent recount in Nevada falls short for us. We're still in second in Florida, and we're still within striking distance there, so we're going to soldier on!

Question: Why are Bloomberg and Ventura still drawing double digit numbers in polls? Neither have posted for several rounds.

They really don't have to until both major parties have nominees IMO.

Hillary Clinton on Meet the Press

Quote
You must be logged in to read this quote.

I'm the better candidate, because based in the three of our voting records, I can win enough liberals and hold most of the center. Senator Bayh and Senator Lincoln are fine people, and would be solid nominees in many other cycles, but they can't win over the left. President Giuliani has held his own so far, but with his selection of Senator Allen as his new running mate, he has abandoned the center, something former Congresswoman Roukema, and Former Senators Kassebaum and Rudman have been reminding people.

Quote

What I would ideally would like to see is a constitutional amendment requiring that all states have the same number of electoral votes, a number that would be set within that amendment, and that no state can change its method of distributing electoral votes, without a prior constitutional amendment. Given that neither the electoral college as constructed nor a national popular is fair to more than one group, I feel that this is the most equitable solution.

President Giuliani's Health Care plan looks similar to my 1994 Health Care plan, so I don't think it's going to make it through Congress. As for his new cabinet nominees, I certainly can support Eric Shinseki for Secretary of Defense, but Condoleeza Rice's pending nomination is a wholly different issue. America needs a Secretary of State that, if not liked by the rest of the world, is at least respected by the rest of world, and due to her service in the Bush Administration fanning the flames for the war in Iraq, Defense Secretary Rice is not that person. I simply cannot support her nomination, and while I cannot be there to filibuster it in person, call on my fellow Democrats to do so.

Quote

It's an good step forward. I remember when the leadership said we were going to "Stay the Course", so any contemplation of a withdrawal is a good thing.

Quote

He's definitely done better than the previous administration, but that's setting a low bar. I'd give him a C-, and I know any one of the three of us could bump that up to a B+ by January 2012, should we win.

GOTV in Hastings, Florida

Speech at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, Jacksonville, Florida (With John Lewis, John Marks III, Mike Espy, Kweisi Mfume, Adrian Fenty, Corrine Brown and Kendrick Meek)

I've heard historians say our landmark civil rights legislation, was the responsibility of Presidents like John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, and Congressional leaders like Sam Rayburn, John William McCormick, Mike Mansfield and Everett Dirksen. But they couldn't do this on their own. They needed Civil rights leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King, Medgar Evers and others to browbeat those on the fence into supporting this legislation, to make it clear our African-American community, all our minority groups just wouldn't take the extreme discrimination any longer. While race relations are far from perfect today, the fact people could seriously talk about candidates like Barack Obama for President or Vice-President today shows we've come a long way since the 1960's and an even longer way away from dark days of slavery.
