Perez talking, no real reaction from the crowd. Contrast with Ellison talking earlier...

I'm actually really disappointed in this, Ellison had energy behind him, and he would have been a fantastic DNC Chair

FWIW, the Democratic elite and base are pretty aligned, far more than the Republicans on the elite/base axis, so this isn't a huge radical rejection or something.

My frustration isn't about Perez or the proxy war, it's that Ellison would have been really really good at the job

Okay, I am no longer worried. Perez did what HRC never did: he extended an olive branch to the other wing of the party the first chance he got.

Looks like Ellison is co-chair but why do you say that? Reince Priebus should be the model for any chair btw.

Also first Latino DNC chair right?

I was hyped for Keith because he showed a strong organisational talent in his congressional elections. (also yes Perez is the first Latino DNC Chair)

Seeing the two, Perez and Ellison, come together is awesome though

The crazy thing about Perez being chair is he actually never held elected office. Hes gonna need a lot of help.

But he HAS run a large bureaucracy, in the Labour department

He's right, they shouldn't leave the party. They need to conquer it, State after State, county after county.

Exactly!Using the same organizing tactics as the tea parties.

Indeed. It worked wonders for the GOP, no reason it won't for us.

That's assuming the state parties don't try to kneecap us, which they certainly will try to.

Well, didn't we just take over California and a few other State parties? I'm sure we can do the same elsewhere.

Except the California Democrats weren't prepared. Watch as the other state parties pass rules to kneecap Bernie supporters. They'd rather lose with the Third Wayer than win with a progressive.

And who do you think will be that Progressive ? Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren ? Way too old ! Sherrod Brown ? Tammy Baldwin ?

The only other option I could think of is having some unknown Progressive Democrat win the Governorship in the Midwest.

Yes.

Sherrod Brown is almost certainly going to lose in 2018. Don't know why people keep mentioning him.

What are you smoking? He's an incredibly talented politician whose likely opponent is somebody he beat by 6 points last time

They've gone about this in all the right ways so far.

I absolutely love it when my optimism is justified. It's so rare Cheesy

next interesting talk...

if this messaging is holding on, ellison is going to be the face of the party as much as perez...

Is the DNC trying to make Perez and Ellison into their own version of the Mario Bros? Because that would be kind of cool.

Plus, everyone knows Luigi's the better brother Wink
