Will Grant Woods back single payer? Will Grant Woods seek to break up the military industrial complex? Will Grant Woods fight to protect the rights of labor unions? Will Grant woods fight for environmental justice? Because those are things many Democrats in the senate won’t do, but Ruben Gallego would.

You’re not undestanding me: electing Grant Woods is keeping this seat in Republican hands, even if he has a D next to his name.

I do not want someone like Grant Woods to be welcome in this party.

I couldn't have said this better. Grant Woods is an oppurtunistic, right-wing Republican. He is not a Democrat and never will be. So-called “moderates” have no place in the Democratic Party and they will be the first ones selling out the working class to corporate interests. They are complacent in the destruction of our democracy. Anyone supporting Woods over Gallego should be ashamed of themselves.

People like you sometimes struggle to realize that not everyone thinks the same way you do.

That doesn't mean that everyone's thoughts are equally valid. Get a better argument.

Do you know what Democrats need?

A governing majority.

Do you know what's not going to get the Democrats there?

A purity test.

The point is that the majority is in service of our political goals, not the other way around.

I don't get why so may people reflexively defend moderates and then turn around and call the people who reflexively question them ideologues. Y'all are just centrist extremists.

As for Woods, oh boyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

We don't know his policy positions yet. If they have moved convincingly leftward, I think we should at least consider him. Gallego is just kind of grumpy and not so electable. Woods is charming. I don't know. I don't like that he was a Repub. I don't like that he gives off sociopath vibes. But I'm not willing to say HELL NO to Grant Woods yet. I probably wouldn't vote for him in a primary, but if he makes it to the general it would be insane to vote for anyone else

Scroll back, and see that just a few days ago I was down for Woods. But the more I learn (and this is from a week's worth of internet gossip), the less I like. He won't win a D primary, and would not do any better than Gallego (if not worse) in the general. Once again, I think that some of you are moderate extremists who will support him now matter what, but making fun of rape victims really should be a line y'all don't cross (isn't that the whole reason that trump is esp. reprehensible?)

Simplest answer--She is an idiot.  It's a pretty common affliction in the GOP

Yeah because insulting tens of millions of people just because of their partisan affiliation is very clever, if there is a idiot here your are probably the one.

Republicans: Those liberal Californians and New Yorkers are scumbag elitists and a scourge on this nation.

"Just campaign strategy people, gotta appeal to the #WWC."

Someone: suggest the party full of climate deniers and that uses "The brown people are coming!" as a main tactic isn't the sharpest bunch of knives.

"This is highly offensive and defamatory to tens of millions! When will the divisiveness end?"

Neither me nor the vast majority of Republicans on this forum are insulting Democratic posters because of their partisan affiliation, thus some respect from the other side would be appropriate.

We demand respect! *bombs children*

That's never how politics has worked anyway. And if your party is literally in favor of letting people discriminate against me (I'm gay so that's an unambiguous yes), I don't feel very respected myself. But the good news is a lifetime of bullying by conservatives has made me pretty resistant to insults (way worse than "idiot") and my recommendation for you here is to relax and get over it.

I don't know what this forum's weird fetishization of civility is about, but there is never and has never been anything civil about politics, and if you don't agree with me go ask any gay person how "civilly" their government treated them in Biden's postulated golden age of civility (the 70s and 80s). Good grief
