Results from Poll 6:

Woodrow Wilson destroyed his opponents with 9 votes.  Taft and Coolidge tied for second place with 4 votes each, so by a flip of a coin, Taft moves on.  Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover go home.

Poll 7 will have 6 presidents in it with all of them being very heavy hitters.  This is going to be a very good race.  I have 6 on this poll because after this there will be 6 presidents left for Poll 8.  We will be starting Round 2 this coming Sunday, April 13.

I loved all of these presidents except Nixon, and they all deserve to move on, but alas only two can move on.  I am going to take Eisenhower as my choice.  The only non-corrupt Republican on that list and I think he was a very good president getting us out of Korea, although Vietnam technically started during his administration (1958).

Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Btw, this round seems to be a Libertarian's nightmare.

Btw, this round seems to be a Libertarian's nightmare.

Indeed it is.

FDR is terrible for too many reasons to list.
Truman killed hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians and further worked to erode federalism in the name of "civil rights".
Eisenhower was a moderate who started American involvement in Vietnam, installed the Shah, and failed to reverse the New Deal of the FDR administration.
Kennedy expanded social welfare programs and nearly got us into a war with Cuba.
Johnson eroded federalism and private property with the Orwellian "Civil Rights Act", further expanded social welfare programs, started the "War on Poverty", and escalated the Vietnam War.

I voted Eisenhower by default.

Agreed, except I defaulted to Truman.  Mainly because he did drop the bomb.  It was the correct choice at the time and history, I feel, has agreed with him.  Ike did build a pretty good highway system though.

Well, I don't think that killing hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese was the correct choice. I would have prefered for him to drop it in a place where it would have caused far less deaths, if he had to drop it at all. Also, Nagasaki was completely unnecesary. Regarding the highway system, I'd read one of Walter Block's pieces on road socialism.

Because of his leadership abilities and his foresight degarding the dangers of Nazi Germany, Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Wow, LBJ is getting shut out of this group.  He's even losing to Nixon, which I think is sad.  Personally, after Ike, I would take LBJ, then FDR.

No, it's just that the people who like LBJ generally like FDR better.

About 5 1/2 hours left in this poll and Ike is leading with FDR in a close second.

I forgot to tell you when this poll expires, but I'm sure you've figured out by now it is every 48 hours, so it will expire tonight at 8:30 pm CDT.
