Yeah, I saw this earlier today.  And for the first time in my life, I'm siding with Barney Frank.  This was truly refreshing.

This month Rush Limbaugh promoted the idea that Obama's health care logo looks like a swastika and how the Nazis hated big business, promoted big government, etc. Palin's comment on euthanasia is a standard link to Nazi practice that pro-life conservatives will make when criticizing abortion or, in this case, "death panels."

I was under the impression that the Nazis loved big business (eg Krupp), since it made revving up the war machine that much more well, efficient.  Rush isn't much of an historian is he?

Speaking of Rush, we are the same age (almost exactly - I think I am one day older), have some things in common, are both smart, but one difference beyond him being an opportunistic entertainer, and myself not, is that I was fortunate enough to obtain a splendid education, which I have continued throughout my life, and he has not, and well, that might be part of the reason why Rush is Rush. He's shallow when it comes to complex issues, and just figures out what will maximize his ratings.

No, I am not an admirer of Rush. He let his splendid mind go to waste, and then got corrupted by money. He used to be better than he is now. Now he is boring and useless. I have not listened to his show for about 3 years or so I would guess.

You're precisely right and let me congratulate you on being one of the few right-leaning persons I know who has a clear understanding of the Nazis.  So many rightists want to make the absurd claim that Naziism was actually 'leftist', I suppose because of the 'socialist' in their name. 

But the reason the Nazis loved big business was not because it was convenient or efficient for 'revving up the war machine', Torie.  No, in fact they were created by big business and for big business.  All such nationalist/traditional values parties, GOP included, a created on behalf of the owners to push for hard-line penal control (cheaper than the alternative but just as effective method of control advocated by the other side).

Wholeheartedly agree with him here.  Comparing Obama's politics to Hitler or Nazism is just insane (comparing 99.9% of American politicians' stances to Hitler's/Nazism is just insane for that matter).
